what makes one thrive and one die?

Mangodude

The Clown Tang Keeper!
My red planet is looking excellent, my cultured green with purple tips acro has a very nice purple color, my setosa is a hot pink/oragen but my efflo and green slimer died (stn and rtn respectively)

Both have been put in the same spots/conditions. I've tried changing them, nothing works

Any ideas? is there some minor thing that one coral needs that i'm leaving out?

Simple answer would be lighting(amount and quality), amount of water flow, and water parameter (and how stable they are).

Different SPS (corals in general) live in different areas of the world and different zone in the ocean so naturally you will have some corals do well in your tank and others do poor at the same time.

My best recommendation is to find out what does good and keep it and if it does bad, pass it on to another reefer that might have better luck with it. Or set up a small public aquarium in your living room with 50 different $ystem$ to ensure every coral gets its ideal environment.

What do your test kits say? Are these numbers stable day to night, and day to day? If it isn't water parameter related, most likely it's a water flow issue.
