What you don't want to see after a long day at work

You have some great looking nems. Since you don't see any stress yet, I'd say you have a nice stable tank.

Thanks!

in all honesty you know a lot about anemones, EC.

Do you believe the magnifica was after the gigantea's flow?

Obviously, I can't be sure why the anemone moved to where it did. The highest flow rate in the tank is on the gigantea. The discharge from a return and the flow from the pump on the side of the tank, collide right by the gigantea. This creates a turbulent area where the flow is constantly changing. The mag moved to right where these two flows meet. I don't believe the mag moved there just to get buddy buddy with the gigantea. I believe it was in search of a higher flow area. I can't be sure though. It's hard to say for sure why it moved, or why it chose the spot it did. All I know is that it hasn't moved again. It's still right next to the gigantea, and they both seem fine. I will be moving the mag today though.

IME magnifica will seek out neighbors in order to try and get rid of them.
The fact that your gigantea was uphill from the mag's original perch was a bonus for it.

I don't envy the task ahead of you.

You may be right. IDK:confused:.

I do dread trying to get the mag off the rock. It will be a long slow process.

Here's a short video I shot that first night. Don't pay attention to the micro bubbles. The sump was low when I got home too. Hopefully, I'll have time to hook up the ATO today while I'm working on the tank.

Fascinating how there appears to be no fighting between the mag and gig. The tentacles don't appear to be deflating or anything where they are in contact with one another. How long have you had those two together in the tank?

I haven't had the same experience with my mags trying to move toward other anemones. I've only had mags and BTAs in the same tank, but no shifting around or movement. The only reasons I've observed for movement in my mags have been water quality issues or water-flow issues.

I've only had the mag for about two months. I mentioned to the owner of my LFS that I set up my tank, with a pedestal in the center, for a mag. A week later, I got a phone call from him stating that he got me a mag. He's a great guy and he gave me a really sweet deal on the mag, so I brought it home. I wasn't really ready for the mag though. I didn't want to get one until after the CLS went in and I hooked up the ATO. I guess it was a little miscommunication. The mag and the other anemones have been doing well together. Other than this walkabout. Hopefully the CLS with a SCWD will keep the mag on the pedestal where it belongs.
