What's been the most exciting aspect of starting your new tank?!

Right now I am setting up a 180g.
The most exciting part(s)...
1. Finding the tank, stand, fuge, etc for only $350.
2. My tank is now bigger than his.
3. Finding everything I want for it at a deal.

WHO am I kidding? The whole thing is excitiing!!!

I had a two exciting moments:

1. Filling the system with water for the very first time, and seeing it was SOOO level that the water overflowed into the drain perfectly

2. Seeing my finished live rock work after two days of pillar making :D

I agree, the entire process is exciting. But I must say that seeing saltwater in it for the first time was the best. That signaled the beginning of the end of a long, 5 month process. Click my red house to see the entire process and progress.

I also enjoyed planning the equipment to be used.

For me it was getting my fresh live rock. Dumping it in the tank and watching everything come to life. All the strange critters, different colors of corraline and aquascaping it.

I did a lot of DIY, that was a great learning experience and fun.

Now the exciting part is watching the corals grow, split and spread.

the entire part is always exciting! never a dull moment on my side thats for sure.im working on too many projects to even start talking about!! haha

there isn't 2" of black death powder on the bottom or 4 coats of coralline paint on the walls. ie spankin' CLEAN glass box.

I swapped out a 55L for a 60L a year or two ago I guess. man that was sweet pulling the old box of funk and sliding the new one in.
BAM instant tank maintenance :D

Might be wierd but the best aspect for me is right after doing a water change and knowing that everything in the tank couldnt be more happy. Ohh and all the other cool S### that goes along with corals, which is everything

The initial build of the whole set up of the rock work to the sump. Don't stock it too fast though, it was hard for me to take my time and slowly watch the progress.

My neon green brain started receding for reasons I could not fathom. For weeks I investigated everything that could be wrong. Finally, I moved it off the sandbed and on to a smooth rock much higher up. Within 24 hours it plumped up again and is now doing great. I was jumping up and down in the living room yelling "yes, yes, yes". My 11 year old son shook his head and giggled.

best moment

staying up till 3am staring at the empty tank with the lights on, and imagining all the ways to set it up as the coolest tank ever.

2nd best...

calling your three best friends to help move it and hear them say, "your putting that in your house!?!"

I just finished setting up my Oceanic 110 last week. Since I did everything myself, I have to say the whole process has been VERY exciting and rewarding.
I build my own cabnet, did all the plubing, and built the fuge all by myself.

The really exciting part is saying I have a 110 that I have under a grand in. :D

Finished product, just finishing up cycling.

For me I love being able to pick out all kinds of crazy cool things I've never seen before. My next aquarium (I would like 300+ gallons) will be even more exciting as I will have learned from a lot of mistakes!
