What's the deal with these 2 zoos?

I've got 2 little frag plugs in the sand with 2 different types of zoos. Both I've had for a couple years or many years, don't remember. Anyway, they both have been in a system for over a year. One has very curly lashes, the other has straight lashes. Is there something anyone knows about that causes curly lashes? Like high mag or high strontium, or something like that? SPS in the system grow great, and have no pests, and good color. System also has a couple anemone's, and a couple fish.

KH 9-10
cal 410ish
ph 8.0-8.3
mag 1450ish
strontium added not tested, but follow kent directions - or less.
Tech I added according to directions, not tested - or less.
No kalk. Top off with buffer or RO.

Any idea's why the difference? Other system I have they don't curl.

Any opinions and/or insite are appreciated! Thanks!

I also do weekly 5 gallon water changes. 75 gallon tank with 30 sump. I also did an interceptor bomb a few months ago on the tank. They didn't seem to mind, but after the treatment, I just turned on my skimmer with no water change until a few days later. They also get natural sun light a few hours a day if I open blinds. Could this be it?

I'm no expert by any means, but some zoos have straight lashes and some have curly ones. I have a few of both. It depends on the species, I guess.

I've heard flow will affect that, but I'm no expert. Just have read it several places. Higher flow, longer lashes. I read something about curly, too, but don't remember what it was that caused that. Maybe the same thing LOL.

I believe the tendency for the curly is basically in the particular genes of each colony.
Some factors could contribute like water chemistry or physical influences (water flow, light), but I believe it's in their genes.

The ability to "morph" is also in their genes, I believe. It will change quantity and quality of the pigmentation only in the range that their genes have the ability to allow.

Another words, if the physical and chemical aspects of the environment are helping that to happen (whatever those pans are in that case) it will be possible.

I am no expert also.

They are doing great!
They like the light you've got!!
Don't change the light, whatever it is. :)

Grandis.
