What's the most humane way to euthanize a fish?

Sometimes an LFS or craigslist just isn't an option. My nearest LFS is an hour away, and is actually quite... um... limited in scope. I'm pretty sure they don't have even have/use a quarantine system for any of their incoming fish. I'm serious.
I only know of two other people who own saltwater tanks. One of them only has a very amateur (bless his heart for trying) 10 gallon tank.
Anyway, I like the "boiling water to create no-oxygen water" idea, but the hammer would be quickest. Just don't be timid about it. The harder you swing, the more it shows you care about the fish.

I would bury it under a rainbow and hopefully a beautiful tree made of gold would grow of it's remains.

Best idea yet. Gold is at $950 oz.
