Where do you Shop?

I for sure will look his website over the next time I look at fish. Just upgrading from a 90 to a 300 now and will likely order some fish soon.

should I call/email him for special requests or does he typically have all available fish on line?

The website is still a work in progress so don't go off of that. The number on the website is best. Text or call him. I gave him a list of what I want, he lets me know when he can aquire them.

...

Liveaquaria ad Divers Den are completely different.

Liveaquaria has its main facility in California, while DD is in Wisconsin.
LA doesn't quarantine, DD does.
LA doesn't have WYSIWYG photos, DD does.
The fish on DD are generally cherry picked and are the best, and I have nevery really heard a bad review from DD. All my fish from them have been awesome, and they are pretty much one of the best places to get fish.
LiveAquaria's main and only facility is in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. All other "facilities" are just external suppliers like Quality Marine ("California facility") or ORA and a few others ("Florida facility") that drop-ship orders placed via LiveAquaria's website.

Diver's Den is LiveAquaria's WYSIWYG section. Those specimen have been acclimated for a bit but not quarantined. Fish that get sick during this period get treated on an as needed basis, but that's about it for QT.

DD doesn't do a proper quarantine; I would call it "enhanced acclimation." Yes, they provide some medications and ensure the fish is eating well, but you should always quarantine the fish yourself. LA recommends it, even for DD fish. I agree that DD fish are generally healthier, but I've had good success with the "regular" selections from LA (drop-shipped from Quality Marine) as well. LA's main facility is in Wisconsin - the California location is actually Quality Marine.
^^This^^

I have ordered fish and invers from LiveAquaria, including DD, as well as from Blue Zoo and the fish quality is pretty much the same.
LA has the better guarantee terms and is in general more lenient. They also let you combine credits from several orders at Blue Zoo you can always only redeem one at a time.

I will probably give Among The Reef a shot in the future for some more hard to find fish.

Same here - first I have heard of this vendor. I need to replace my Exquisite wrasse since he decided to go carpet-surfing. Would like to try to source the Vanuatu variant.

I got my Griffis pair from him and getting a Gem from him a week from Friday. You won't be disappointed.

You usually look for the rare and in relative high demand expensive fish.
I'm rather looking for obscure but relatively low price fish, or fish that hardly ever make it to the US. Others I look for are rather ordinary but I need them from a specific location and in a specific size to make pairs.
Let's see if that yields the same results.

Give Jordan a shot.

I dont buy super expensive fish, typically under $5-600. I'll tell him what I want, male or female, what size, etc. He'll send me a video thru text and let me see the fish I want and it eating.

For most fish, he does a 7 day guarantee for 10% and 15 day for 20% of the price of the fish.

People in my "reef club" have bought 40-50$ common fish from him, and he treats them the same. Heck, last time we bought a bunch of cleaner shrimp in with the fish order.

His livestock he ships is super healthy and every fish I have bought/bought for friends has settled in and eaten same day.

I will warn you he doesn't ship the fish in as much water as DD does, but the water has always been super clean and never a problem.

A+++ for Jordan.

Ok I was...kinda still confused...but think I got it now.

"Liveaquaria and Divers Den are completely different."

I took this to mean that...there are Two Divers Dens out there..one operated by drsfostersmith through liveaquaria...divers den is a subcategory AND there is another totally unrelated company Also called Diver Den.

But there is only one Divers den.....just it operates different from the rest of the live aquaria. Like how amazon warehouse, amazon shipping third party stuffs is different from just buying from amazon.

That right?

Yes DD is in Wisconsin and is run by Kevin Kohen and they condition fish, inverts and corals for at least 2 weeks before putting them for sale. LiveAquaria is just a website thats linked to Quality Marines' stocklists and are sent directly from them. Now that Petco and LiveAquaria are the same thing I would also assume that CIS Holdings as they are known as (ships all fish for Petco.com) is also shipping some fish for LA, but they may still be totally separate? Both are in southern California/LA area

LiveAquaria is the parent company, run by Kevin Kohen as noted above. To clarify, Diver's Den is the WYSIWYG section of LiveAquaria, with livestock selected and conditioned. The "regular" livestock (not WYSIWYG) is sourced/drop-shipped through Quality Marine under the LiveAquaria brand name. I have not seen any indication that CIS Holdings is shipping for LA - the last couple fish I ordered through LA came from Quality Marine (confirmed with a label on the shipping bag).

All I order from is live aquaria/dd. I've never had a problem until I visit lfs or other online venues. Their customer service is good too.

I haven't looked at ny aquatic before, but looking at their site now looks promising.

Not really correct either.

This is correct.
Quality Marine supplies the bulk marine and freshwater species on behalf of LiveAquaria. I'm assuming QM might even have a special section for LA stock to make sure what is listed as "in stock" is actually available.
Diver's Den is the "real" LiveAquaria which ships from LiveAquaria's own facility. I'm assuming that they source their fish from a variety of wholesalers and not just from QM. These fish are to some degree conditioned for captivity and if necessary treated against obvious diseases.
To add is that Live Aquaria's tank raised fish primarily come from ORA (a fairly unfortunate choice as ORA clownfish are at best feeder fish quality) - some via QM, some via DD and others directly from ORA.

I have bought from zoa collector and his stocks been top quality and healthy. My orders from DD been awesome but the regular LA has been a hit or miss. Blue zoo is same as regular LA hit or miss. Got to say LA has the best customer service bar none.
