Where to buy big hermit shells cheap?

I had one of those for over 10 years. Thing got as big as my hand and was more than happy to move rocks much larger than itself. (Taught me a few things about aquascaping! :lmao: ) There's pictures floating around in the cloud of one eating a bird so you definitely want to plan for it's aggression. Here in Texas there's a hobby supply chain that carrys packages of various size shells pretty cheap that I've used multiple times for hermits. I always use a toothbrush and vinegar to clean them before tossing them in. You also have the option of finding a glass blower and getting a glass shell custom made for it. :D

Thanks all.

If I don't want him to grow big in my 10g fuge....Can I keep him contained in that size if I don't provide bigger shells?

Can they crack glasses?[emoji47]

It will continue to grow, so plan for it. I would think in something thin like a 10g, it could possibly grab a rock and hit the glass hard enough to crack it, but I'm just guessing.

Thanks everyone. This crabis really beautiful very active and Hardy so I'm keeping him I'll make sure my 10 gallon tank only has two huge rocks very heavy to move so far he hasn't been able to move them but I'll keep monitoring as for the shell will get them from Hobby Lobby or Michaels

Btw is this the pic someone referred about this crab eating a bird?

Will it die if I don't provide bigger shells as time progresses?
