yes i have, read my thread topic line, it doesnt read hey should i add more than 2 tangs, it says which ones, ive read the tang in a 30 gallon too, ive kept difficult fish before im not a total newb. and i know what im upgrading or not too and when.

that being said, the 2 im going with for sure are Kole and powder brown, both rated for smaller tanks than mine, so sue me if im gonna add a third at the same time.

The only tangs that would work out long term are the yellow and kole tang, and you may have too give them up in a couple of years. Have you looked into centropyge angelfish. IMO they are better looking than any tang and eat algae as well, but if you go the tang route, I would only get 2 max, and even that is pushing it.

How is the octopus skimmer working out for you btw?

Last post. I think its funny that you'll ask for advice and then tell people not to post if they dont agree with you. Then you get defensive and act like you know what your doing when you were considering a sohal, clown, orange shoulder and naso for a 90 gallon tank. Maybe its just me but you sound like a newb. With that said I will leave you alone now and stay out of your thread. Good luck with whatever you choose.

i understand that they will grow, planning on moving in a year, if i dont i can easily get a 150 or 180 at a drop of a dime. thats not the issue.

So people FOCUS.
so im guessing powder brown, kole yellow eye are IN, gotta decide on what else.

Why don't you focus on getting fish that will fit your CURRENT tank, and not one that you hope to have one day. Trust me, the "plan" to get a bigger tank fails more times then not.

if its doable, they are not going to be giants in a year. cant live life scared people. my mission isnt to kill the fish. so if your not on board just dont post i guess.

LOOK, both Powder Brown and Kole are good for 70 gallons right, k. so im gonna add something else at the same time.

No, a "Powder Brown" is not good for a 70 gallon tank. But, I am not sure why you even started this thread, since you seem to have your mind made up. You really should take advice from people who have been down this road before and not assume that you are correct.

look i wanted the advice, read the whole thing, wanted more a compatability and people that do currently have more than 2 tangs in tanks smaller than 150s.

look in a calm manner. pretend i have a 200 gallon waiting in the garage, would it be so wrong to house a 3-4 inch naso/orange shoulder/sohal/ or whatever in a very open 90 for a year or 2 ?????? that is the question.

I say two smaller tangs at most. I had a 90gal and I only had a yellow tang. If you ever go snorkeling or diving you'll quickly see how big tangs can actually get let alone the space they need to roam.

If it were me, these would be the tangs I would try (not all at once) tomini, yellow, purple, Kole and maybe sailfin.

Yes, it would be wrong. First, the "naso" (( I am assuming that you are referring to Naso lituratus )), would (( should if given proper conditions )) out grow a 4 foot tank in 2 years. A sohal, would/should outgrow it in 2 years, and more importantly will become way too aggressive in a "small" tang.

IMO, I would just wait until that magic 200 gallon tank is set up.

okay guys, i appreciate the input, i really do, ill have 2 small tangs rated properly, and probably one you wont like in there, we shall see. i dont use credit cards and i had no problem dropping 3k worth of equipment and everything for this tank. the Magic bigger tank is not a problem for me, i just work hard. So dont fret to much for the fish. I keep my tanks well.

I think you should get some baby blues like four. It would be supper cool and you would have time before they would outgrow your tank I have one in a 2.5 and he is fine, for now. I also think 3 yellow tangs and a kole would be awesome!!! You would have to find super small ones though. Keep in mind if you have less rock you also have less hiding spots and this can lead to aggression and with tangs aggression can lead to injuries like this

Just remember you HAVE to get super small tangs (which is why the baby blues are going to be your best bet) Also you should definitely introduce them at the same time and keep them very well fed!!!!

thanks Gill, bottom line is i expect to move in a year. thats why i went with a 90 instead of anything bigger, the tangs i get will be around 3 inches 4 max. introduced at the same time of course, and your right, less rock will mean less hiding, but hopefully they appreciate the fact that i left them mores swimming room just for them. 3 will be max i suppose. just dont shoot me over it though.

And what does not using credit cards, and having 3K to drop on this tank have to do with the size? I don't care about your money, and the fish won't either if kept in a tank that is too small.

And with that said, time to unsubscribe from this thread.

meaning people use credit cards to buy stuff when they really dont have the money. or have to piece things one thing at a time, there is nothing wrong with that, but that leads to that bigger tank not usually happening like they hope. i dont have that problem. someone brought up my magic bigger tank, i was explaining how its not that magical for me.

Your welcome just don't let these guys get to you, they apparently have never herd of police brutality LOL

Kole and yellow would yes fit into your current sized tank.
Heres a tang suggestion : Have you heard of a Chevron tang ? I know their pricey but they are relatively smallet then most tangs.

geez guys read between the lines. if im understanding correctly this guy is similar to me. i prefer to get a fish small and raise it to an adult, it gives me pride and joy almost like having a kid (im 14). essentually this is a grow out so dont [profanity] about anything. i wouldnt want to buy a 1-2" baby let alone a 3-4" guy and put him in a 125 or 180 cuase he'll get lost it feels like. i have a 3" yellow tang in my 75, im planning on getting a hippo, lavender, or powder brown as another fish cuase my tank seems empty. im freinds with every LFS around here and all the club members so i can find a tank for one of the tangs when it grows out of my tank. ive made up my mind about that and pnavarro170 has made up his mind about the 3 tangs to GROW OUT, hes just curious what tangs you like. its nothing permenent just like growing out a frag in a frag tank before putting it in the DT. give the man what he wants.

youve probably made up your mind on the 3 tangs (i got [profanity] after the first page so i just hit reply and skipped the rest) but i think a hippo tang Paracanthurus hepatus for its vibrant blue and black contrast, lavender tang Acanthurus nigrofuscus for its uniqueness, and a powder brown Acanthurus japonicus for its awesome would be awesome if you take the neccesarry precations to QT and add together or whatever (i havent QTd any fish lol, im going to start now tho lost too much) to avoid pre-mature death from ich or whatever. good luck id love to see the tank with the tangs in it and the upgrade in the next year hopefully.

2 last things, i like the openness of the rockscape but like previously said youll need to feed a lot of nori cuase there isnt a lot of grzing space. maybe try pillars of rocks (with PVC in the middle to support) as a better option. also nothing [profanity] me off more when people tell me i cant have this in this tank/setting, nothing happens the same twice. i think personal experiance is better than hearing from a profesional (blanking on names) but when you dont have personal experiance, trust the pros or try it or both.

good luck!

Look Dude, I've been in he hobby for 6 years. Ive seen how fast fish grow, and Ive worked in an aquarium shop for a year too. You could get your cute little hippo tang and at 3 to 4 inches and in a year he could be a foot long fish. Same with the other 2. I used to be just like this, thinking everything in my fish tank would be perfect no problems whatsoever and I learned it just doesnt work like that. It's a hard thing to face and yes it can be hard to be responsible in this hobby. But that's what patience is for so just relax a little in the tank. I mean it's not like naso, hippo, sohal, clown an orange shoulder tangs will go extinct in the next year right?Nope, they'll be right where you left them. No flaming intended, just the hard truth.
