Its been about a two year experiment. Its a 40b with 3 koralina powerheads and about 35-40lbs of liverock. 10gal every two-three week water change. FOWLR. havent lost a fish. (stocked 2 clowns, 1 longnose hawk, 1 flameback and a pistol goby pair.)

Good to hear that works for you. I'm attempting the same with my 33long reef tank. Been up only a little more than a month, so I can't make any determinations yet.

i recently started an sps tank in an Innovative Marine 25g Lagoon.
Since it's sps i did add a small nano skimmer, and I have to dose alk and calc since water changes can't keep up.
My only additional flow is a vortech mp10.
I change 2.5-3g every couple weeks.

29g standard with one cheap Amazon power head and heater. Going strong six months. Fish and corals happy. 3 gallon water change a week

10 gallon. Just a corner filter with an airpump. Carbon and filter floss inside. Got some Liverock too. Currently nothing in it. Been cycling for a few months because I don't know what to put in it

my 120 gal. has been running for more than two years. no sump, two powerheads, hob skimmer, heater and Chinese led's. no dosing and 15% wc every other week. 12 fish total, with the biggest being a onespot foxface and a Lamarck's angel. so far all is good.

I change out about 10% each week, (tap water) no GAC, no GFO, no ATS, no RDSB, no refugium, no filter sock etc. If that's not keeping it simple then I don't know what is... ;)

Glad to see all the success stories. I do use RODI but that's the only precaution I take. I can tell by the look of the water if I'm slacking. I bet running carbon would let me go even longer. But Someyimes I think we over complicate things.

I do I think. 90 gallon reef tank. 4 powerheads, HOB in-tank skimmer, surface skimmer, 2 heaters, MH/T5 lights. 20 gallon water change every 2 weeks and no dosing.

Pretty Simple.

This is the simplest setup I've ever run and I love it. I do have an internal skimmer and ATO because it's at work so water changes are a little more challenging. Otherwise its a heater, pumps, and lights. Oh, and the Tampa Bay Saltwater aquacultured LR and associated critters. Just passed the 6 month mark and still looking good.
