who uses a submersible return pump, and what is it???

I have used 2 mag 9.5s in sump to provide flow to the downstairs frag tanks for over 5 years without any issues at all. Pretty quiet too.

I've been running my OR6500 for the last 4 yrs, with no issues. I bought it over a mag 12 because it draws less amps and produces less heat....

you don't hear of the problem anymore

you don't hear of the problem anymore

but years ago there were many serious issues noted with certain models of Rio submersible pumps. (Pump failure killed livestock.) The name 'Rio' become synonomous with a bad product- which was not altogether true as only certain models were 'bad'.

Magdrives are very reliable IME (although I did have one melt down on me).

I used dozens of mag drive pumps. Some of them are 15 years in use. If you take care of the pump it will last for a long time.

I personally use the Marineland Maxijet Utility pumps and they are both efficient and dead silent

Same for me! The thing is super quiet and gets the job done. They are adjustable on the pump as well, rather than having to install a ball valve to regulate flow speeds.
