Hey guys please help me understand this.
I think I'm a fair and not don't rant much but this is upsetting to me.

A guy was selling a 36in cube on RC for X amount
He didn't sell for a few weeks and I ask what's the best price u can do
He said $100 less then asking.
I said I'll take it but want to see it . Told him only reason I won't want it if theres a crack down the side or missing a panel. Scratches or small chips are all okay with me I don't care.
He said he will clean it up first. I said I'll come by sat b4 on the way to MARS swap meet.
I offer to PayPal a deposit but he said that's okay he'll hold it for me.

Well got a txt yesterday that he sold it since someone offer him the full asking price.
???
His asking price was hell of a deal. I was finally able to sell my tank in the garage so I could get another tank.
Ok this is where u guys could help me understand?

This is what I see:
I thought I had a deal? A gentleman's agreement ?
He could have at lease txt and said hey I real need the extra $100 so can u meet ask price?
He could have said I need it out today if u can't come get it now I have to sell to someone else.

I know there's always two sides to any story. What I see his reasons he did what he did:
***? I listed at a great price and he offers me$100 less.
Money talks BS walks
He just wants to look before buying
I need the $100
Wife said get it out today!

I'm going to regret this rant since I'm not like that. He did apologize but it's not making feeling any better.
I know if it's not meant to be thats the way life works.

Can't tell I'm mad or sad.
God I'm such a drama queen...lol just gotta move on

Sounds like you solved your own rant to me:)

Good luck on the search of your new tank.

Sad to say but it does happen in our hobby. It's his tank in the first place so he can do whatever he wants with it. On the other side you 2 already had an agreement when he said he'll hold it for you.
Guess time to move on and search. You'll find something even better for sure.

I've been on both sides of the coin many times on Craigslist. One side is having a deal and then the day of either not being able to get a hold of them or them saying they already sold it. Sucks! The other side is selling something and people promising to pick up on a certain date, you hold it, then they flake. Meanwhile you skip over others who would have bought it. Sucks too!

I'm a firm believer in "things happen for a reason" and I see awesome tanks I wish the wife would let me buy all the time. You'll find another, and probably an even better one.

its basically first come first serve now a days..can't hold stuff. I held onto a lot of things for this one person and person kept flaking. basically wanted me to deliver after flaking a few times.

It happens I had that happen on buying these dosing containers from this guy in sac but he turn around and said no cause his reefer club mate wanted it instead. I felt that you shouldn't agree if you can't promise but oh well it happens.

1st come first serve. who ever comes with the cash is typically gonna get the merchandise in general.

For me IF I promised someone I'll give him a date that its only good for especially if I need to move it. So in the case that person don't show or no response, I gave him a deadline.

"things happen for a reason" I forget that when they are bad reasons.
I do feel foolish for ranting. I'm Asian we don't talk about feeling.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm in a good place again.

I once drove an hour and a half to meet a guy to buy a tank. Get there and he was like "oh someone else just picked it up".

You aren't alone, don't worry about it. If a handshake(virtual, in person, or over the phone) isn't good enough, I don't want to do business with those type of folks anways.

like I mentioned to ya yesterday nash...at least you didn't lose any money over it and I'm sure something else will come along man.

well said tkeracer619...over the years, I've learned who to avoid!

Well said Tim.

Sorry about the tank Nash. Anyone remember that scene from the Bronx tale and the lesson over $20? :uzi:

LOL Mark, Love that movie.

Hey Everyone
I have a lead on another tank.
The Seller and I are good.
I have not disclosed the name and it's not anyone that posted it for sale now or in the past.
I knew I would regret ranting....... How un-Chinese of me.....lol

Lol...

let me know if you need a hand getting it in the house.. At least I can run a diversion for your wife or something.. I'll pretend to fall down the stairs =)..

Craigslist sellers not as trustworthy as RC sellers.

Don't get me wrong RC sellers will do sketchy stuff too, but on here you will meet the same people and learn if they're worth dealing with. On craigslist, there is no username you can interact with. Just a phone number or email.

If you had paid a down deposit to hold it for you for a specified period of time you would have had an enforceable contract.

so many times I've held stuff, turned down other calls as said sold, only to have the buyer not show up.

Finally learnt the lesson, no holds, sell to the first who shows with the cash.
