Will I get a cycle?

I downgraded my 35g tank to a 10g tank last weekend. I used the sand/rock and a couple of gallons of saltwater from the old tank, and I'm wondering if I'll even see a cycle. I tested the water, and it's looking like I'm just getting a small nitrate spike. Will I eventually get a full blown cycle, or do you think I can start adding some shrooms/fish?

I think if you get a cycle it will be small. I would go ahead with the mushrooms but wait for the fish. Remember any small item you add will defiantly need time to let the bacteria catch up.

not a full cycle but you will have a small short spike ...

The reason you are seeing a small nitrtae spike is from using the old sand. Some of the junk built up in yours got transferred over. Otherwise you have enought bacteria in the water column not to have a actual cycle.
