Worm's 180 build

It's cool that you can get right down into your tank like that, but it really highlights how noisy that powerhead is. Can you imagine how stressful that must be for your fish to have that noise going on and off all the time?

Perhaps give it good cleaning and if your GoPro again shows it to be that loud I'd suggest finding another brand of powerhead.

Turn off all the power in your house for 30 minutes.

The sound will deaf'an you.

I understand what you are saying, but they do not wake me up in the middle of the night asking for me to turn it off. Just like I do not turn off my ceiling fan. When it is off, though, I know it and it wakes me up in the middle of the night.

Besides imagine the crash of the surf... That one spot where it you can hear it try to make a wave is only twice a day for an hour... The surf at the beach is 24/7...

I get it... but so do they... water flow and filtration. They like mysis too. Really go crazy over krill though.

Things are doing good lately. I think I need to remove my Haddoni from the tank.

The LTA and Ritteri seem to be mad over it.

Well last week the LTA perished.

It looks like it was moving the rock it was on and pulled it a tad too hard. I saw it start to loose shape. When I came home from work last week it was real lifeless. I saw the tear on it's foot. A snail had started to chow down on it too, so it had gone past saving.

That was the first non-fish item I had in my tank.

I think it was trying to re-arrange and get things better. The rock it was attached to had been moving slowly (from the LTA) and now it is 1/2 tilted over. Nothing in the tank would have had the power to move it.

The Alpha Female is not happy, but it's male has taken up a home in the Haddoni.

OK.. so no pictures....

I am going on vacation to the OBX... can someone keep an eye on my tank? From the webcam?

Thanks.

If you see the tank sitter doing something bad just tell me.

Thanks

;)

I think your tank is sagging at the ends ..........  Sorry, I'm just amusing myself. Unless those are teeny, tiny buckets of salt, that is a serious skimmer.

I know quite a few of you will not believe this... BUT:

I worked with a friend and we did the plumbing and made the stand for the new 300EXT skimmer. The discharge is 12 inches above the lip of the sump. The feed is 24 inches from pump to input height.

Got done about 10:30pm and started the pumps and looked for leaks.

Only one, I do not know why you have to connect the air inlet tube to the pump... geezes...

Right now I am uploading the video of it running, sorry no time-lapse movie for the build. The video will be posted once it is done.

The normal break in is probably about a week, just reading what others say about comparable skimmers.

Here are two pictures that were taken about 12:30am :

Yea that is skim with some dark particles in it.

WOW...

Thoughts and comments?

For those that watch the camera, wait till after 12 noon and look to the left of the 120. Zoom in and see how it is doing. While you are at it look at the old skimmer, too.

Thanks for following and allowing me to share a little bit of my fish room.

Ohhh ca1ore, yeah the 180 is sagging on the ends. I have to get someone out to fix that. Those are the new compressed 5gal buckets too. (HAHAHAHAHA!!!)

Updated video of the skimmer about 14 hours after startup:

That thing is kicking butt, are you going to raise the bubbles to the base of the cup? I think that's the purpose of the extension, so you can run higher bubbles.

Yes it is for more contact time. I was just meaning overall on the height of the water and not wanting it to flood it.

Here it is 21 hours after start.
