If you watch that video closer, you will see it TOSS the hermits off it.

They are fine and not as noisy now. HAHAHA

They are all over the place somedays.

I got some new frags this past weekend.

Take a look and tell me what you think.

Those video's were taken about 20 minutes after dip/rinse and put into tank.

They all opened up and seem pretty happy. Even this am they were all good.

Wow, great thread! Tagging along.

I just sold my whole setup (65 g reef and 2 other tanks) and thought I was leaving the hobby, so I didn't have to move everything to a new house. Was I wrong! New house has a great place for a large tank - right beside the wet bar, heh heh. You have lots of great ideas I want to incorporate into my 180g build.

awesome build great thread watched so many videos in a row! haha

HAHA... Me too. I hae a lot that are uploaded to youtube, but not public. I will after a while. I look at those for motivation or just remembering when 'we did that'. Thanks!

Ask away... these forums and the people here are full of ideas.

Yes right beside the bar would be perfect. One of my boys already said that I need to put a bar downstairs near it so that you can look at it and 'relax' hahahaha

Thanks, ask away... I love questions.

A few new pic's

These two are always up to something... LOL

I moved these radioactive dragon eyes to a section of rock that I can cut and frag out. They have exploded in growth. They used to only cover the top of the plug with a ring around it. Now it has grown DOWN the edges and started to grow DOWN the base, with polyps on it too!

HUNGRY... LOL

Sump cracked

Sump cracked

You know normally we leave our sumps as they are and don't really check on them too much. They stay pretty stagnant and a water spot or finger prints we are not usually too worried about.

Here you can see the sump, in these two pictures:

If you look you can see how I have things setup.

Water come in on the LEFT and goes back UP on the right. Skimmer pulls out on the left, fuge/cheato in the center, and GFO/CARBON in and out on the right. Of course the return pump going back up.

To chance the GFO and carbon I turn off the feed pump and disconnect the quick connect and open/clean/refill them.

The two canisters sit there with no problems and no movement, unless I manually move them.

Yesterday I did a full water change (30 gallons) and cleaned/refilled out the GFO and the carbon.

Everything was nice and simple.

Woke up this am checked on the tank to make sure nothing died off.

Came home to.... WATER ON THE FLOOR... I mean we have all prob done a little bit on the floor doing or dripping something. BUT:

Well... hummm what did I leave on... Nope.. not the ATO... NOPE.. not the RODI... Not the siphon hose I use... The ATO line did not get disconnected or leaking. Checked the GFO and carbon, maybe I did not push them in all the way... Nope.. all good... WAIT... What is that between the two canisters.

DEVISTATED... WAIT.. (insert a few experlitaves here)... It only has a small drip... it is still early... $1/gallon sale I come.

While driving over I try to deduce what caused this. I do not band the canisters against the tank or anything to get bubbles out. I tap them and fill slowly... I must have tapped/bumped them against it sometime, yesterday. I did the change my self so I am the only one that could be blamed.

OK.. so.. To get the sump back up and running I HAVE to get two 40g breeder tanks.

1) to replace the cracked sump.

2) to put the baffles in and let cure.

OK.. yeah... two $1/gal 40 gallon breeder tanks I got and brought home.

TOOK me an hour to do the following: (see next post)

Baffle-less sump.

Put all the LR back in and even took the LS and put in. Hooked everything back up and started to flow water again.

One thing you will notice is a CHEATO trap in the water, with the light right above it.

This will hold the cheato in place and not let it zoom all over and either get broken up or trapped in the return/gfo/carbon pump.

So an hour to fix what a little crack caused.. (OK.. I know it is not a little crack and I DID NOT push in it for fear of running all that water on the floor.)

I can say that the two gfo/carbon will be placed UP and screwed in, yes I will have to make sure there is plenty of space below it to hang.

OHH the LR.. none of it was even near the glass on the front in the sump.

Lesson learned:
-know when the sales are and the closing hours of the local LFS for emergency (no emergency here (anymore) but just in-case)
-Even after a water change, start making up RO/DI water instantly. (I was already doing it from last night)
-Glass can break by a tap (DUHHHHHH)
-Owning an APEX (already owned) and getting a floor sensor is a good idea (Fathers day is coming up)
-Patience is learned and a valuable resource (my kids know I am patient all too well (seriously I am) and they know I will wait and be there for them)

OK... so... What do you think??

Dam worm that sucks. Thank god you were able to fix it, you didnt get all the water on the floor, and it didnt cost you a fortune. Keep up the good work, I like the updates.

HA... Thanks... I wondered if anyone read this anymore... "Oh great Worm is posting more videos" (HAHAHA just kidding)

Yes.... did not cost me anything and only my hands and the bottom of my shoes got wet.

I am headed to a wedding this weekend, while I know the person feeding for me could have handled it all and I would not have even known it leaked... I am deff glad it did not happen then!

woooowsa ,,,,,,,id be hot fire to be honest, then state of panic, then solution attempt.... u handled it well sir... no u gotta change ur signature even more now haha woooooo
