WTB external pump for closed loop (~1100gph)

Just wondering if anyone has a ~1100gph pump they are looking to sell or will be selling in the near future. I've been looking at the Gen-X PCX40 because it seems middle-of-the-road as far as price/quality, but there is no reason I couldn't use something else with a similar output.

Thanks

I like the Gen-X PCX40. I have a bunch of them, and the oldest ones (2) have been running for 8 years non-stop without a glitch--I've never had a problem with any of them, they have great flow, are energy efficient, not too expensive, and don't add too much heat to the water. I don't have one to sell, but I'd recommend it if you can find one (and I don't own stock in PCI either, but maybe I should?!)

I owned one once, and it screamed like a banshee. Back it went, replaced with a Blue Line. Far superior pump, IMO.

Well, you know what they say... opinions are like...

Nevermind...

I appreciate the opinions, I just hate when they totally contradict one another :)

I'm still learning about the closed loop system as well....So let me know what type of pump you will be using and how it works for you....:)

hey in the frag swap thread petoris mentioned a Iwaski 40 for sell for 100$

I was going to buy this for my MR2, but didn't because it wasn't pressure rated, but would be excellent for a closed loop.

It is a Japanease motor in perfect unused condition...

Might want to shoot her a PM.

I also have the Gen X pump. LOVE IT!!!! I had a Pentiar one that was EXTREMELY hot. it melted teh carpet at the old house. UGH! my gen x is very barely noticeable and pumps great. I keep getting some seepers in my system that leak air into the suction pipe and then I get a tank full of microbubbles. Make sure you glue the Tar out of your joints. Noting like having to go back and re-do it a few times.

I dont remember where I got mine, but I think it was only like $100, and I also got a Mag 9.5 as well on the order.

bkv1997 thanks for the heads up. Seems like a good price on a brand-new pump (especially if it has the japanese motor). My only concern is that I plan on using penductors on at least some of the outputs of the closed loop and I have heard that they work better with pressure rated pumps. Does it really make a dramatic difference?

DMBillies.... if you need a pressure rated pump I would get one. For example the pump Petoris is selling has a max head of 12'. The pump I ended up with uses alot more power to push the same amount ofwater, but has a max head of 25'.

I think if your goal is to push penductors or Beckett skimmers your better off with a pressure rated pump.

Just my 2 cents.
