Hi all,
just wanted to ask u wut kind of anemone i could get under 130w PC in a 29 gallon tank. I had a sebae which was a mixup because the LFS thought that the sebae was a bubble-tip. Me being an unexperienced reefer took it and l8r realized it was the wrong species. The LFS didnt take it back and it survived a little, but then wasted away(i think due to its bleached state, it was really white). In the while it was alive, it was hosted by my larger ocellaris clown.

One more question, I have decided to give up on my Seaclone 100 and have purchased a Aqua C remora which should arrive within one-one and a half weeks. What can i do in the meantime without the Seaclone providing adequate oxygen levels?

Thanks
PUFFERMAN

How long has your tank been established? Water parameters, filtration?

Anemones are by all no means meant to be kept by beginners. They are moderate to extremely difficult to keep.

the tank has been up and running for 3 years. The sebae anemone was kept when the tank was 2 years. I think it wasted away because of the lack of lighting as i have read in other places that sebaes like metal halide rather than PC lighting.

oops sorry. The params are as follows
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-0
Calcium-unknown
SG-1.025
pH-8.3
Filtration:
Eheim Ecco canister
a Aqua C remora on the way
i run Reef Carbon in the canister and clean every two weeks.
Weekly water changes of 4 gallons

Lighting is fine for a BTA and would be a good choice, although most hosting anemones could easily dominate a tank that size. Water params would seem fine. Make sure filter intakes are covered with foam, heaters are in a sump or covered, etc.

fwiw: the lighting was likely fine for a "sebae" in that tank, although it would not be my lighting preference for the typical "sebae" species.

Why not run the existing skimmer until the new one arrives

I agree that the lighting would have worked for the 'sebae' and is fine for a BTA. More likely, something else was wrong--it was probably too far gone before you even received it (which is very likely).

Sebaes just were never meant to be kept. They are one of the hardest to maintain. I have a BTA and 3 LTA, I use 65 watt PC lighting feed them every 3 days and maintain decent qater quality. I've heard so much how anemones have to have perfect conditions and such, alot of people shy away from them. I think they are beautiful animals and I have no problem maintaining the ones I have. I had 2 die recently after I bought them but Im almost certain that something was wrong with them from the store. Dont be discouraged by other into NOT getting anemones. Your tank is like mine a 29 gal also but i use lower wattage lighting and have no problem. I have a sump for my skimmer and sterilizer, heater and so on but nothing special as far as equipment. I feed mine silversides everyother day and frozen store bought shrimp in between. Best of luck with your tank.

why is all my typing highlighted?
Fixed it. Hope it is what you meant.

fwiw: during the quote process there are some html commands that were half deleted during the edit. I cut them out :)
