I use geismann 10K 150w for my magnifica. It's just started to wander so I've re-arranged the rockwork to stop it.

Have at you walking monster!

Thanks Debi.

conorwynne,
My anemone cannot go anywhere other than down my rock island. So far he is doing well and is growing a little from catching fish food. I feed him shrimp, fish, squid, or oyster maybe once a month if that much.

My H. magnific continue to do well. It is now about 9-10 months under my care, still small and still in my 30 g cube. Not get fed much so he stay about the same size. Here he is with my fish. I just took these picture this PM

Wow, amazing pictures! Very pretty anemone and very pretty clowns too.

Makes me miss my old yellow mag. It was just far toooooo big I had to sell it, didn't fit in my 115 cube anymore. Glad you've been able to keep the growth rate manageable. Mine was 5" at purchase and possibly 18" within 6 weeks. Maybe I overfed it. I'm not sure though, I didn't think I was excessive, it just grew like a balloon.

But anyhow very nice pictures. :)

I added my Mandarin into the tank about 3 months ago. She is getting fatter and is a fat mandarin at this time. Here is a rare picture of her. Also a FTS of the tank today. I turn this tank into a H. magnifica and frag tank, so there are a few SPS and various corals in it. Of course a picture of the anemone and the not-always-happy clowns couple. They had lovers quarrel now and then. Lastly the picture of my Crocea in the same tank

unless I missed it somehow, can you tell me more about a couple things:

1. the mandarin: are you feeding it? or is it living off the pods in your tank? if living off pods in your tank, how're you managing to keep it so well stocked?

2. nice percs! are they WC? or captive bred?

interesting setup--all of these more challenging creatures in a 30 gallon ..wow ...

Thanks in advance

Thanks Nick.

Jamie,
Regarding the two clowns, the female is a F1 A. ocellarisX A. percula and the male is a misbared tank raised A. percula.

Regarding my H. magnifica, I got him very small, about 5 inches, and have not feed him very much. He is only about 8 inches at this time and I don't feed him at all other than the fish food he catch. I am keeping him small so that he won't outgrow the tank. They can grow very fast if we reefkeepers feed them.

Regarding my Mandarin, from previous post in thread.
Basically I provide environment to foster the small animal breeding in the tank, feed them and the Mandarin benefit from this set-up even if it is only 30 gal.

Update on my H. magnifica. It is now under my care for almost 6 months. I removed all the fish except the clown pair in this 30 g cube, so it is essentially a species tank. I got two clams, some Xenia 5 Acropora, one Montipora, one Seriatopora and an un-ID SPS, one mushroom and one Polyp colony in the tank. I added a thick layer of bivalve shells, initially to keep the fine sand from blowing around, but end up added a very think layer of this to make my whole tank in to a large 'pod pile'. I am successful, there are lots of pods in this tank in broad daylight. As soon as I can find a small Mandarin, I will put him or her in there.

I had tanks with just large crushed corals without problem. These shells are full of amphipods, mysis, worms and other crustaceans. I think it will be OK. Just about 1 week now and the small animals population really exploded. The tank does not have any predators so these animal are out all day. When I feed the tank, they just out grabbing food everywhere. I can see many of them loaded with eggs too.
I think the shell will be a great thing for this tank so I can have a Mandarin.
I will keep you guys/gals update.
If worst come to worst, I can always do the tank over. Handling 30 g tank is sooooo easy after taken care of my 500 g system.

About my small tank, it is full of pods of variety of species. They have no predation, so I added an Mandarin. She is doing well but hardly come out to the front where I can take a picture of her. She is getting fat even just after 10 days in the tank. Her body is full, both of the sides of her back are higher than the base of her dorsal fin. I don't often see Mandarin that fat in captivity. I should have got a male instead of a female. I wonder if she will ever be egg bind because of having eggs and not have a male in the tank so she can spawn. I don't think this tank can support a pair of Mandarin, not in a 30 g tank even if it is full of pods at this time. I will post a picture when I can catch her out in front of the rock.

I was out of town until Monday PM. When I got home I found my female clown on the tile floor. She was the queen of the tank. The other two fish was the male clown and a mandarin. I am not sure what drove to tile surfing because there was no fish harassing her and she was very happy with the H. magnifica, rarely 1/2 foot away from the anemone. The rest of the tank looks very well without problem. She was my only A. percula X ocellaris. She was very beautiful and with perfect body and health. Her stomach was getting full and the pair have start to clean rock. I though that they would start to spawn soon. This is a sad day for me. I have never had a clown jump out of the tank without being harass before.
