Yes, It's Another Tank thread

Got this morphed orange setosa from Tim few weekends ago
Doesn't look like much in the picture but it looks like a burning ember.
So cool ! Can't wait till it grows larger.

Got this from the Diablo a while back.
Starting to encrust and still looks purple.
I had thought it was just a purple tip of a tri color or something.
Still could be but I hope it's all purple. Funny when the lights at a diff Spectrum the polyps are yellow. The iPhone can't captured that.
If one of you guys shared this frag let me know would love more info.

I like the Setosa. Mine is a pretty bright orange and easily stands out even though it is located towards the rear of the display.

My tunze ATO finally fail and idump a bunch of kalk in the tank. I just sent in for repair and hope to get it back a a few weeks. I should have done this a while ago but procrastinated because I don't want to untangle all the cables.
So far damage is stn of some new frags. All old school sps seem to be ok.
I'll post pic later
Kalk dump is classic tale of how sps tanks crash but lucky I only had less then gal of top off water left.

Hey Nashorn,

I'm curious how much/often you dose Reef Chili/Reef Roids? I've been following your advice and dosing AcroPower and Reef Chili every 3 days (I think you actually does more often?). I've been doing 4 spoons of Reef Chili for my 89g system volume. Color and acro health has definitely been improving so I decided to introduce some Roids as well.

According to the Roids can, they suggest 1 teaspoon per 100g. So I did a little less my first dose and it seemed like a ridiculous amount. Last night (second dose) I did 1/2 teaspoon and it seemed a little better.

Just curious how much you're using.

That is WAY too much. Most of these product companies grossly overstate the amount you need to supplement so you'll be buying the next one sooner.

A small pinch is good enough.

Yeah, I figured as much. Especially since I have relatively few corals. Nashorn on the other hand has I think...all corals? lol Anyways, I figured I'd see what others are dosing.

So are you saying that 4 spoons of Reef Chili is too much as well? It's a tiny spoon.

Nashorn: thats a sweet little frag tank. What you going to light it with? It looks nice enough that I'd have it sitting on a high table/custom stand. :)

Got back after 2 week cruise to Alaska and had a tank crash so 90% of sps are dead.
Not sure what happen yet .
I post some pic later .
just too sad right now

Oh wow, I'm really sorry to hear that Nashorn. Did you have someone checking in on the tank? I always worry about that when we go away. So far it's only been for a week, but later this summer we'll be gone for just over 2 weeks...and next year we're planning a trip for a month! It's a year away and I'm already sweating it, lol.

I have no doubt with your skills you'll have that tank back to usual splendor in no time.

This looks very nice.

Sorry for the bad news, but we all have to learn the same way.... Hope you will recovery soon.

I know it's no consolation, but I was expecting much worse! Any clues to what caused it yet?

I know that last Monday 06/08 there were wide spread power outages in the Bay Area. There were two issues, unexpected temps which exceeded 100 degrees and a squirrel which vaporized itself at one of the substations... Our power was down for about 30 minutes, but I know some places in the Bay were down until morning.
