Just got a new tds meter hooked up to see what my tap water coming in is. 114 ? Am I drinking straight sewage water? All my filters are rated for approx 1000 gallons i've done probably 250 gallons and my sediment filter is like black. :hmm5: Whats everyone elses starting PPM TDS reading ?

Mine is 370 on a good day, too muddy (really, it comes out of the tap brown) to try on a bad day.

I hate this town.

Out of the tap? 1200-1400, but thats what you get when you live in the desert and all the local groundwater is crap. Most of the southwest is about the same, lots of carbonate and lots of salts in the water. We a dedicated RO that supplies drinking and cooking water.

DEP says that the upper limits of TDS for human consumption is 500ppm.

mines about 340-400 out of the tap which being well water isn't that suprising, you should see how fast tap water ruins a coffee pot.

Mine generally runs under 75. I've seen it as low as the high 20's. The Coca-Cola plant out here puts it in bottles and calls it Dasani. I do run a RODI, but my DI resin last for years.

114 is pretty good. It really depends on whats in it. If it's just got a little salt or something in it then it can go even higher and still taste fine. If it has a little iron in it then it might taste awful and stain your clothes in the wash. If it has a lot of calcium and or magnesium in it then it won't suds up the soap right and leaves hard water stains on everything. But it will taste great. If it has sulfur in it then god help you, you'll never make it taste like water.

You can get the local water report. The water company, at least here in the US, is required to put them out at least once a year. You can learn a lot about what you are drinking from that.

Mine is about 425 out of the well. It was a little lower in the fall.

Our city house/drinking water runs 350-400 and our landscape water (reclaimed) runs from 275 on a good day to 1100 on a bad day. The landscape water has no clorine in it and therefore has some live 'stuff' in it.

This is my tap water on a typical day. No, we don't drink it.

My RO puts out less than 13 TDS, but my DI only handled about 400 gallons at 0 TDS before registering 1 TDS.

Wow, I feel really lucky now. Mine is 20-23, I've never seen >25. My di is three years old and only half spent. I replace the prefilter once a year. I just replaced my RO membrane for a faster one, not because it clogged. I'm only using a three stage system. :) There's times I wish my water was a little worse, I feel like a maintenance slacker...

Mine is around 114 as well, however my sediment filter always looks bright white. My BRS DI resin only lasts approx 400-500 gallons though. Thats with only 2 TDS entering the DI filter. Im not sure if something in my water chews up DI resin, or if the resin just isnt very good.

After 400 gallons, my BRS DI resin no longer produces 0 TDS, with an input TDS of 13-8. Since I have the drinking water kit, my RO is almost always running. My water bill went from about $68 to $84 per month when I I stalled it, but the quality of the water means I don't have to buy water bottles.
