Hey Guys trying to do some homework here on Zeovit.

I want to hear all the horror stories , success stories and everything in between.
also looking for advise on reactor equipment ( apparently everyone has a problem with the smaller stones falling through? )

kinda torn apart ... algae scrubber or zeovit... argh!

Hope you get a lot of replies. There is a couple of good threads on the SPS forum. Me, I'm very interested in it. Once I get my build up and running, my plan is to make a smaller SPS only tank that would Zeovit run. Done a lot of research already, and have a lot of the equipment. Seems as if Zeovit is more of an artform than anything else. There are basic rules to follow, but seems that the most successful keepers learn to read between the lines!

I've finally settled on zeovit after a few different methods (carbon+gfo, vsv, biopellets.) The method works really well for me. I was using bp's as I spent a lot of time away with the defence force. Now all that seems to have settled down I have the time to do zeo, it's not time consuming at all that I find.. just requires someone to dose relatively regularly. It seems to have a lot higher success rate than biopellets from what I've seen, and you can target certain things.

well on my 20L I am running bio-pellets and honestly I couldn't be happier. Granted I don't get that crazy growth that I see with Zeo systems.

Zeovit, from my reading is very demanding on the part you need to dose everyday.
you need to use a low Alk salt, and constantly buy the dosing stuff. ( what happens if someone is sold out of your salt. or dosing stuff ? ) just been on the fences about product availability.

but the results I have seen have been outstanding.

I dose every day on my nano, so no big deal for me, LOL! Would be just a few extra drops. But yes, I can see for some people how that could get old:crazy1:

I used ZEO 6 years back for about 12 month with great results; great colors, polyp extension and growth. My only problem was getting frags from other systems; most of them went into shock and RTN because of the low nutrients in my system, maybe a different story with today’s popularity of biopellets and nutrient reducing dosing methods.

did you try to slowly drip acclimate the coral? this would worry me.

I did not, maybe today I would acclimate them differently; but like I mentioned in my opinion the average tank today has less nutrients due to better skimming and reduction techniques. Do not be discouraged by Zeo’s dosing, is not that bad most of the time you are not even measuring just counting drops.

Well I am making the jump, I ordered ( while it is on sale. ) the Zeovit starter package.

just now gotta pick out a skimmer that is " phytoplankton friendly " i.e. a venturi type for a 80 gallon ( with sump size included. )
