I just took the zeovit plunge... I dropped 700.00 in the start up including my new reactor and the basic 4... is anybody else using the system?? I would like to hear what they have had in respect to coral health and coloration. I listened to the podcast, and did a search but not coming up with much true experienced user results. I would appreciate anybody input on the subject..... The podcast sounded like zeovit reps talking and not everyday reef aquarist :)

Shawn,
I use the zeo and am very happy with the results. I have had no issues with any algae in my tank since start up. I got a few strands of some algae on some frags and have to manually remove these few strands every week when I do my water change but it is literally a few strands I stay on top of. I have a few bubble algae pieces that came in on a coral and it takes months for them to return once they get big enough to pop off the rock, nothing to worry about. I have been running zeo since last year (I started as soon as I set up the new tank), June 05, so almost one year. I had a rough patch when flow through my zeo reactor was to fast. Once I got that and the alk dialed and stable everything is happy as can be. Color is great in a lot of corals, so-so in others. I have a lot of frags so I am waiting to see what happens in time as frags grow into colonies. Polyp extension is fantastic. My biggest enjoyment is watching the good colors, polyp extension, and no problems with algae of any kind.
I use a bunch of the supplements, basic 4, C-vitalizer, macro-elements, K-balance, pif, iron, pocci-stylo glow, spur 2 (for later in zeo stages). I defiantely think it is helping to keep my tank more naturally balanced...why this works with zeo, I couldn't tell you but it makes sense to me to run params near or at natural sea water. I have been able to do so and have great color and health of my corals. I only run 2 14k 250w DE lights over the system so growth is not super fast. I prefer the slower approach anyways, I don't want to grow out of my tank in 1-2 years so slow growth is favorable to me. I need to update my full tank shot on my website but it looks a lot different now than back in November. I think if you give it a year you will be happy with it. That was my committment, one year and then re-evaluate what I thought. So far I am very happy with it. There are many ways to achieve this balance in a tank. Zeo was the route I chose this time around, I am pleased thus far. I am not sure who is on the podcast but most of the zeo reps I know of are avid hobbyists and keep reef tanks.

I also use the system and am happy with the results. It was easy from day one for me. And now I just get to enjoy. Jeff who was on the Pod cast is a avid hobbiest and his tank is one of the deciding factors in me switching to zeo. I will send you a pm about where to get experienced up to date info on zeo.Its not here.

I think you will find that most of the hardcore Zeovit users have been banned from this site. Your better off getting Zeo information from the Zeovit guys over on thier board. I also use Zeovit btw :P

Oh and for the record, the two people on that Podcast was Scott (the owner of www.captiveoceans.com) and Jeff (otherwise known as GQJeff). Jeff's tank is one of the nicest tanks in the country. It is absolutly amazing. He lives only 20mins from me and I am thankful to have him to give me advice. Needless to say, I try to emulate his tank as closely as possible, though his pockets are much deeper than mine, so I have to fudge a few things here and there lol.

Scott is NOT the owner of captiveoceans, he is an employee, Gary is the owner ,

just to avoid rumores :)

WHOOPS!!! My mistake... I totally thought Scott was the owner..ah well...Anyway Scott is the dude who takes care of me when I do business with them :P...great guy

As for why alot of the the Zeovit users have been banned...I cant answer that question, I was not there when it happend, but I will say alot of hardcore users that had several thousand posts each on RC are now history...Take a look through some of the old Zeovit threads and see how many of the big names there are "moved on". Its a real shame :( There is alot of valuable knowledge gone now :(.

Wzero, I suppose it would be possible but you would have to know what is in each one of the supplements.... and I do not think the zeovit clan is going to give up there secrets anytime soon. I think it has to do with makin a whole lot of money!!!

I've used Zeovit for 18 months, and I love it. There's quite a learning curve (there was for me anyway) to find out how much is too much, but once you understand how your system will behave with the basic 4, it's relatively smooth sailing.

Reef-resh from Polyp Labs is a new product that's similar.

The name of the game is "bacteria."

Any way to simulate Zeo system without using Zeo products?

I have no feelings about zeovit, one way or another but that pod cast was sad.

What exactly what sad about it? I think there was alot of useful information on there for somone who knows nothing about the way it works. They just touched the tip of the iceberg and tried to answer alot of the FAQ's, many of which you could have read on the website anyway.

I agree.... the podcast and the information I surfed on there site was informative... and sparked enough interest in me to spend 700.00 to give it a try. I will be continuing to post on this thread and I will try to get as many before and after shots as I can when I begin use.

I agree with this too however, this happens everywhere for many reasons. Recently an informative thread about Prodibio was shut down/closed on the Zeovit Forum.

I will be continuing to post on this thread and I will try to get as many before and after shots as I can when I begin use.

Thats great! I think Zeo is a good product and will follow your progress.

I think if someone has a passion about an idea or theory and is willing to talk about there experiences it is not necessarily a info mercial but an informative faq answering session based by people who want to help out fellow aquarist . Especially if you are really serious about trying the system, you will want to know what it is all about before you dump 3/4 of a grand in cold hard cash!
