Hey Zedar,
Thanks for the questions, I feel i am on the right track with the help from the guys at Zeo, and yes I think a lot of the problems come from the rock being full of nutrient. I you would have seen the tank this stuff came out of, you would understand. Of course I would have done things different, but I figured drying, bleaching and etc would work..
Anyway here are the answers to your question:
-I am strictly Zeo basic 4, actually no ZeoFood....
-Feeding was once a day, but I ended up getting a great deal on some anthias so the past week or so i have been feeding 3 times per week (No accelerated algae growth from what I see).
-Tanks is 11 months, some rock i have had for 2 years, most came from a friend that had a tank in bad repair.
-No DSB
Really, i figure it will take another couple months, but it does become frustrating after a while. But I do truly believe that tangs/rabbitfish are a key...

Zedar,
Let me get this right as you mentioned on the other pages. You are running Matrixgravel/rock in place of the Zeo stones? That's why it got to costly for me on a big system.Being on Zeo rocks were changed out every six weeks.$$$$And you are using the same stones, for 8 months. Are you running them in a reactor, and pumping them like Zeo users do?You mentioned cleaning once a month. Is this the pumping method.
Ans with carbon dosing and a little Zeo products here and there. You are getting super resultsWow that's pretty cool,as for not breaking the bank.
Just trying to found out as much as I can about using the Matrix stuff.Sounds very interesting:eek2: [/B]

Zedar,
I'm guess you were dosing VSV before the Matrix was added. So when you put this on line on your system.Did you back off on your amount of carbon dosing,or keep it the same.I know we should all test as we go.It just seems starting in a system,it would seem to go slower with the VSV dosing at first.

On a side note here.As for this bacteria we are trying to get in the main system goes.I think someone posted here that it can even collect to your panes.
Here is my question I'm looking at.Us folks that run filter socks in our sump.I do this to protect 2 of my main pumps.A few years ago,a snail got in there and burned the pump up.So I learned my less on that. But with these filters bags,I'm sure it would attact in these bags also.I'm sure some will get threw the bags. But I also don't want to defeat the purpose also,as a huge collection station either. Are you running bags on your system. And how much of and impact comes into play here.I thought about this, wondering is this really a big deal?I run 2 bags of each on 2 drains. It's a shallow sump.It helps with the micro bubbles.
