I picked thes up about 3 and 5 weeks ago. All are maricultured and looking great, in the past I didn't have very good luck with maricultured corals

They all look really nice and long poylp extension is so sweet with a wave maker are you running a tunze wave box?

Nice man, great job keeping those guys happy. I never have much lick with mari colonies :(

What lens/camera are you using for the video?

Great video... I wouldn't mind seeing more of your whole tank! Just Awesome! How did you introduce the MC corals into your system? QT, lighting placement, acclamation? Any info would be great I have known many people that are afraid of getting the MC corals because they just lose them. Thanks:)

Mariculture sps do fine in my system. If you have a hard time keeping them you need to check the stability of your system. They are just very unforgiving, don't get caught slipping and they'll do just fine.

Thanks - I have a Tunze Nano wave box, it works great and creates movement all over the tank.

Great video, nice pieces! That 3rd one looks similar to a mari piece I just got!

Thanks, any idea if I got the name correct? I think the third one is a Gemmifera, the shape looks right but the colors are different then most I see.

Wow you seem to have perfect flow, congrats on the nice pieces. let me know if you ever head up my way.

will do Frank and thanks

I’m assuming you have a wave box by the movement of your polyps, looking stellar

yes - the Tunze nano does a better job then I initially expected, it provides movement on both ends of the tank and all through the rockwork

Thanks - the camera is a Sony HD camcorder HDR-XR150, it also takes great closeup stills but not so good at full tank shots

Nice looking colonies! chef

Thanks

Thanks, my build log here on RC is:
Pete's 110 build

Introduction was pretty typical, I'll acclimate to the tank water but keep them separated from the tank (usually float in the sump and slowly change out water to tank water discarding the old). After acclimation I give them a bath in interceptor at 15x normal for about 30 minutes. I'll then give them a close inspection mostly checking the base and will even go as far as scrubbing and scrapping the base to make sure there are no eggs anywhere. then it gets a 15 minute bath in revive at the normal dose. I'll pull any acro crabs and save reintroduce them to the coral as I believe they are beneficial to them.

not trying to hijack the thread but do sps like the wavebox of vortech?

I dont have a vortech but I'm sure they like the back and forth the wavebox provides

I stay on top of stability. In my 300g system I found about 50% of the maricultured coral I bought would die in what I refer to as the long term acclimation (not right away but up to a year later). In other words learning how to survive in an enclosed aquarium system that is far different from the ocean reefs when it comes to water quality, food source, food quantity, lighting, water motion chemical stability, biological stability, etc etc. I do agree they are way more unforgiving then a coral that was tank raised and something everyone needs to consider when buying maricultured corals.
