100 micro mesh filter socks

Has anyone here ever tried 100 micron stiff mesh filter socks?

I was using 100 micron felt socks for a few months and they were great, but washing them was no fun. I had about 10, so only needed to wash them every few weeks. Unfortunately I washed them in no-splash bleach so I ended up throwing them away before using them again.

I then bought a couple 200 micron mesh socks to try them out (non stiff socks). They worked ok, but the sump still got very dirty. But cleaning them was so easy and they did not wear out like felt.

Suggestions? 100 micron mesh?

Ive used both and turn them inside out and wash most of the crud out in the kitchen sink then wash with bleach and air dry seems to work well.

What is no splash bleach?

I've got 200 micron felt. Washed once in bleach, flipped inside out and washed again in bleach. The ran again with no bleach. Air drying now. Are there certain types of bleach that are a no-go?

Would the 200um sock fit into the 100um sock. That way you only have you have less stuff in the 100 to clean out

Washing filter socks is part of the fun in reef keeping their is no easy way

You could avoid washing them just buy throwing them away and using a new one:lol2:
