1200g Woody Horseshoe Reef

I am back home in CO and Wayne had a rough week with his daughter being in Vanderbilt Hospital getting chemo so maybe he can get something up this week. Sorry to lead everyone on but we didn't have the time.

well I think I can speak for everyone following this thread by saying that's quite alright! I'm participating in the walk for life held by my college and encourage everyone to check out similar opportunities in their areas!

omg steve sorry to hear about the daugther. hope the best for wayne and his daughter. i know how it is since i have 4 boys myself.

very sorry to read about your daughter as a father i cant even imagine the stress and worry that has put u under best wishes to you , your family and especially your daughter. hate to even ask at this point but if u could point me in the right direction for the sealant or apoxy or whatever it is used to seal wood for marine use whenever you get the chance it would be greatly appreciated

If you use are thinking about using epoxy, I wouldn't go with sani tred because it's not UV safe- it'll break down over time, and even sanitred says you have to use a UV safe epoxy anyway. Best bet is to use one of these:

But I'd use the last one- best bang for the buck. They're used on boats so they are definitely UV safe, and should be all you need.

I wouldn't just "trust" marine coatings. I sell them and they all have their strong as well as weak points. That's why there are so many.

You might also look into Durabak coatings. I used it on my wooden loading dock and that is really extremely tough stuff. It is essentially like treating the wood with a truck bed liner. It has stood up to incredible abuse and I am very impressed with it.

Big warning: Most of these coatings are extremely noxious so you need to be prepared for that.

And another company to check out is Tennant. These guys make top line coatings, many of which are low or zero VOC.

I'll call my brother and find out if he doesn't see this today. I talked to him last night. He has some live rock put in but it is not arranged. The tank is on the back burner right now as he is dealing with health issues with his daughter.

I know people hat have used the three posted successfully. Most blush free marine epoxy resins are suitable, some are better than others
