130 X 36 x 36 inbound...any suggestions?

cool, thank you, nice to hear, and you get some nice things too if I remember correctly...send me a pm, I may know somebody who can help ship rare fish...
the gf just never seemed to me like it 100% gf when I got her almost a year ago...over the past 10-4 months there seemed to be an influx of baby gf angels and some hybrids and oddballs...my thinking is they are not the occasional hybrid but something else...

I've noticed there appears to have been an abundance of the baby GF lately, they are the next fish on my list to acquire once my current batch is through quarantine.

I would love to get a hybrid instead of the standard goldflake, PIA had one six months ago that was stunning.

Care to share your thoughts on what the "something else" might be or how to get the "something else"?

hey matt,

I think they might just become known by a new name...the influx of baby "gf" and gf "hybrids" over the last 14-16 months has been crazy and almost routine...but the babies don't look 100% gf..there is just something slightly off about them..

That's very interesting. Are they all coming from the same general area then? Is there distinguishing characteristic between a baby GF and a baby GF hybrid?

I'm assuming the hybridization is between a flagfin and a goldflake?

Thx a lot Huma! Exactly! Had the feeling something was different with the gf I got a few weeks ago. Had one previously, a juve too, but was just different. I started noticing when Kevin Kohen posted a photo of a hybrid juvi that looked pretty similar to mine. Unfortunately it would be extremely difficult to locate the exact source of the fish as it has been probably caught in Xmas island - Hawaii - importer in Singapore - fish store in Dubai - and finally my tank!

That must be a stunning fish to see in person. It looks like there is some purple on the edge of the fine, is that correct? Maybe it's just the picture.

Did yours have that coloration Ted?

Hehehe on goldfin!

Caribfan, never noticed it before you mentioned it. Just looked at the fish agin. It is there, but very very subdued. I believe it's an LED effect. I notice it on the edge of my blonde nasos too.

I took these without any lights on...just used ambient sunlight...the lack of overhead lights always makes the fish more at ease and, ime/imo, tends to make even an aggressive tank calmer...I was able to get a few nice ones of the venustus and male interrupta...

the smaller of the larger clarion...
