150g Starphire Peninsula Build Thread. SPS and BTA's. Pic Heavy!

There is nothing wrong with your corals and their colours/health that is for sure! I love your Hawkins echinata colony, beautiful. My guess is that the dinos will eventually burn themselves out, you just need to be patient, stick to your routine and keep your parameters in check, and eventually they will go away. The hardest part though is when they grown on/near your sps, they can cause some damage, that frequent basting can help combat.

New additions, though not going in the 150, set my old 90g up as a frag system. About 1/3 of it is aquascaping... figured it would be better to get some new things.

+1 I've had them in my current tank. I didnt change my routine. I just let them burn themselves out.

Your acros look great though despite the Dino issues.

Are these BC (Battle Coral) stuff? They are so gorgeous.

Yes, they all came from Battlecorals, also have a spainbow.

It's been a fight for so long now. I don't think they necessarily harmed anything, just really an eye sore. Appreciate the kind words as always

I may have missed it, but just wondering if you uses the dino X yet

Yes, I did 6 treatments in 12 days. Some of my acro's started looking funky so I stopped treatment yesterday. I did about a 30% water change and put GFO and Carbon back online. So far it seems that the dino's are gone. I would have preferred to continue treatment for a few more days but it wasn't worth risking the health of all my corals.

During treatment I reduced the photoperiod by 2 hours and also reduced lighting intensity significantly. I plan on keeping intensity lower and photoperiod shorter now as my some of my acros have started showing more color and growth, surprisingly. Maybe it will prevent the dino's from coming back as well.

They were all acquired from ReefRaft USA. The first one is Fruitopia, the next two are unnamed.... until I think of something ;)

your corals are looking fan frickin' tastic!!!
awesome.. i want them all!
I'm wondering if perhaps the killing of the dinos may have increased nutrients slightly and may have been partially to blame for the better color and growth of your corals..
no doubt some people are finding better color from a slight light reduction - mhucasey, for one but maybe there is more than the light reduction at play here...

Triggers in a reef? 120g standard, potters angel, starry blennie, yellow tang, 3 green chromis, 2 fairy wrasses. 80%sps some lps.

Appreciate it!

Wow, nice frags. :D
As always, thanks for the kind words mate.
To update you on "the battle"... after treating with Dino X for two weeks, they were gone for the most part. At that point I lost one acro colony (nothing too special) and a lot of my SPS were starting to look pretty bad, so I stopped dosing. Well its been about a month since, and they are returning. I also have cyano and bryopsis taking off now as well. It's strange given that I have a relatively low bio load and do not feed heavily. I'll just keep up with maintenance and deal with them. As long as my SPS seems happy I'll just be satisfied with that.

What you've done so far to battle Dinos hasnt worked...I'd try up the nutrients a little and just keep things stable. It seems like the "filtration" is being done by 3 different things that require light.

Do you have enough liverock? Can you add a bit more liverock into the sump and increase the flow through the system?
