Nick, so clipping the shroud is the "6025 mod" that I always hear about?

OK, tell me more about option 3. where do you place everything?

(1) 6201 and 6101 on each end of the tank? and (1) nano behind each rock island?

or

leave the 6201's on the ends, and place the 6101's on the back wall? pointed towards the front glass or angled?

yes thats the nano mod. there is a lil tube inside the pump around the prop and you can dremel or snip it out to open up the pump.

ok

instead of the 6101s going in the middle i would put them on the ends too. all 4 streams on the ends one in each corner. point them lengthwise make two of them pulse and build a wave and two of them blow for the corals.

That is the cheaper experiment. You can pick up two nano's locally for what, $120-$130. What is a 6101 gonna cost you. I know that you are a big baller so price doesn't matter, but for the rest of us... :)

Mark, so you're recommending that I use the 2 nanos for added flow for my coral? I was planning on adding those just to move water around behind my rockwork.

If I use the 2 modded nanos to move water for my display, where should I place them?

What would you do to move water behind the rocks then?

when the guy has an AGE tank why bother worrying about money

Marko might have a point, start with 2 6025 and then decide where to go, but you will not be blown away by the flow of the 6025 if you already have 6201s

Or forgo the nanos because with 2 6201s on pulse mode there would might be plenty of flow behind the rocks and the nano might be overkill.

Nick has a point- Both will be an overkill. If you are debating it, get the 6101 as you can control them. I do not worry about flow behind my rocks. I am sure there is some flow back there. I do know that there are not any corals back there so I do not worry about how many times turnover I have for my serpant stars.

LOL, no love for the serpent stars??

On the 6101, one reason I was considering it is because it's controllable, and I can dial it down if it's "too much", but can run it higher when the time comes. Then again, it's 300+ bucks, and 2 nanos will set me back less than half that.

The only reason I want flow behind the rocks is to prevent future cyano outbreaks. I want to do whatever I can to minimize that possiblity. What do you guys think?

the fact that you can control them is 100% why i said go 6101 also IME nano streams are not as high quality and reliable a pump as the full size streams. 2 of mine have been superglued shut for a few months now

I have mad love for my stars. I have two red and a green and white banded that I got when it was 4 inches across from arm to arm.

IMO, If you can find a used 6101 for a good price, pull the trigger. If not, get a couple of 6025's until that day comes.

I'm still stocking (and restocking - lost some fish due to ich), but currently have:

Sohal, Desjardini, Purple tang
6 chromis (down from 10)
4 bartlett's anthias
1 banggai cardinal
1 dragon goby
1 6-line wrasse
1 orange firefish
3 cleaner shrimp
1 cucumber
1 sand sifting star

Or... get the 6200s and use an aquacontroller to ramp down the speed if necessary. I am trying this was an aquasurf addition to my aquacontroller. Will let you know how it works.

Ryan.

Terry, if you go with the 6301. Your Large fish and Corals will have fresh food to eat everyday :D. That is one of the reason i didn't go with the 6301
