You have got to poke my weak spot aren't ya :D. I wish i could have the 8x4x30 or even the 7x4x30 but NOOOOOOOO..... :(

you better take her to the Gucci store, and you'll get your tank again ;)

 steve  by now gucci is way behind schedule. LS460L will do the job for now until you start adding 3 skimmers then you really have to work even harder.

That sucks dude.

Yeah, the overage charges go up exponentially, too. 1-100% over baseline = a surchage, 101-150% = more...

!!!!!!!

See why I don't run halides anymore? That, plus the big koi pond we had in our backyard!

I went to a T5-only tank (from halides) purely for energy-saving reasons. I was hesitant at first, but when I saw Iwan's beautiful SPS tank, lit by Powermodules, I was sold.

My main likes: saves energy, can mix and match bulbs, I don't put 3rd degree burns on my arm when I clean the tank :D

Dislikes: No shimmer, No shadows, Not a very natural look.

Would I do it again? Yes, only cuz electricity is expensive where I live. Otherwise, I'd go halides

I've seen some claims out there that the Sfiligoi Xenus Wavemaker will give you shimmer w/ T5s. Maybe Melev can comment since I saw he had a video of the Xenus posted somewhere. AO is supposed to be trying one in their T5 tank to report the results for me. I may order one and be the guinea pig on my all T5 tank. Not cheap, but not horrible either if it works.

Sounds very interesting. You've piqued my interest. Please keep us updated! How are the reflectors on that fixture? The Powermodules put out monster PAR with their reflectors and active cooling. That shimmer would be put to waste if it's not functional.

Flow question

Flow question

OK, so I want to add more flow via Tunzes.

Current: (2) 6201 and (1) 6060

Options:

1) add on an additional 6080 + 2 nanos (6025 or 6045) - nanos would be used to move water behind the rockwork. will the 6045s blow up a lot of sand?

2) add on an additional 6101 + 2 nanos

3) remove the 6060 and add 2 6101s + 2 nanos

4) remove the 6060 and add 1 6080, 1 6101 + 2 nanos

What would you do and where would you place them all?

dont bother with the 6045 you can clip the 6025 housing in 2minutes and have 1200gph from it. they are the same pump just a different shroud.

i like option 3 :)

Nick, so clipping the shroud is the "6025 mod" that I always hear about?

OK, tell me more about option 3. where do you place everything?

(1) 6201 and 6101 on each end of the tank? and (1) nano behind each rock island?

or

leave the 6201's on the ends, and place the 6101's on the back wall? pointed towards the front glass or angled?

That will cause a large sand storm. I would start with two modded nanos and go from there. Sometimes more flow is disfunctional unless you can direct the flow in a tank with a sand bed.
