20k radium ok for gigantea?

As title says would that be okay for my gig its currently under 250watt 10k hamilton bulb on galaxy ballasts. But just wondering if you any one has ever kept a gig under 20k bulb?

I think majority people keep them under 20k...or tune their leds to that 20k look....all of my s. Gigs are under 20k bulbs 250w galaxy balasts....ones under a 400w 20k as well

I don't like 20kK color. I keep all my tank under 10kK

In terms of sustaining a gig, I think it's fine. I tend to agree with Minh that it's a bit to blue for my taste, though I do have my Radion running at 100% on all colors, and it's very much like the blue of a Radium. Regardless, my gig seems to like the light.

Stichodactyla gigantea prefers much more light IME. You don't state how far your anemone will be from the lamp but in any case, 400w would be better- no matter what spectrum.

Absolutely, got a little side tracked on the commentary. To clarify, lower K bulbs are better for sun loving anemones because more of the usable spectrum for them is within range. As with SPS, using the higher K bulbs like a Radium typically means looks better, slower growth. This is why a lot of people go with 10-14k bulbs since it's considered mid-range between good looks and good growth. For anemones like gigantea, I think the lower k bulbs would be better, but using a Radium is surely not going to kill it.

I can you from experience that my gig started to "reach" more when I switched from halide to LEDs. It doesn't hug the rock pile as much as it used to, and looks more like a toadstool than a typical gig. My plan is to add more light by adding T5s, just haven't had a chance to add them yet.

I was response to this. Which under my impression, not likely to be true.

IME...i was just going off what i see Alot of... not saying EVERYONE does it, because everyone had their own style and what they like, but just from what i see alot of people doing around here... i see alot of 20k's...

no one way is wrong or right... as long as the nem is healthy, i think you can get a S. Gig to not only live and be sustained but i think you can get it to Thrive under a 20k..... As well as 14k... and 10k... as long as you got the right Depth.. like my Big one is under 12'' of water.. for the 250W ... and for the other one its under about 17-19'' of Water under the 400W... both are thriving.. and growing...
