2300G Cylinder - Preview

I'm baffled as to why it is sitting on the wooden blocks...and how it is going to come off those blocks later...

First half of the question is easy. The welded tube steel crate that the tank was shipped in has cross members on all sides of the tank, including the bottom and will need to be cut away with an angle grinder. I didn't have time to do that as it was being delivered, and even if I dd, there is no way to lift the tank without supporting it from the bottom... there was always going to be something that needed to come out from under the tank.

The second half is a bit more of a challenge, but I belive with a car jack and some creativity, I should be able to manage.

i know someone who used jacks to lift a 18' tank of the dollies that were used to position the tank, and then built the stand under it.

As long as the tank is empty and you use something to spread the load any type of car jack could easily lift that enough to get the blocks out. Harder part will be getting everything outta the way to set it down Might be able to find some heavy duty curved suction cups and jack on them?

angle grinder? Why? Use a torch place some leather over the tank to keep heat away. Cut through each in seconds.

Hi all,

Why do things on house builds always go slower than one expects?

Prefab frame was delivered 3 weeks late, but the carpenters have now had it for a week and is about 2/3 up.

Here is the front of the house (Bed 2 & 3). Its a little taler than I expected.

Here is the aquarium in a frame built by the carpenters to protect it from weather and vandalism:

It took 2 weekends to cut the beast out of its steel crate, but here it is sitting on its stand:

If anyone's interested in how I got the blocks out, heres how I did it:

1. Insert car jack on opposite side to stand keyway
2. Jack up and remove 3 ( of 8) blocks. Place 2 of the blocks so they are just forward of the pivot point.
3. Lower Jack
4. Get a 30" piece of timber and place on top of the car jack (now on the ground in the keyway).
5. Jack up so that the opposite edge touches the stand
6. Remove all remaining blocks
7. Lower Jack
8. Ta da!

Now 've just got to find a way to move it about 1 1/2 inches. Will probably involve a block and tackle.

wow! how tall are those walls? i remember building my house and it all seemed small until the white drywall was installed. then it really looked big until all the furniture was moved in.
tha's a good idea to protect the tank. how heavy is it? does it feel like you could buge it a bit if you lift it again from the keyhole? if so, i bet getting it centered would be just a matter of pushing as you let it down, easy . otherwise i'd get the block and tackle out now while you can still run it through a wall to a truck or something heavy to pull against......
