240 Gallon STARPHIRE THROUGH-WALL REEF TANK FROM NEW ZEALAND

I will be chronicling my new tank build here over the coming months. I have been in the Hobby for 3 years and this is my second Marine tank. This tank will mainly be Fish-Only with roughly 70kg of Live rock and some Soft Corals including a massive half metre wide sarcophyton. Its inhabitants will include 1 x Clown Trigger 1 x Emperor Angel 1 x Foxface Rabbitfish 1 x Blue tang and 1 x bluestreak cleaner wrasse which have all been with me from the start. Future inhabitants will include a Blue Ribbon Eel.

the specs are as follows:

Display Tank - 1290mm Length, 690mm Height, 820mm Deep. The 3 Viewing panels will consist of starphire glass, while the rest of the tank will be standard glass.


Stand - Custom built out of 18mm Ply, 2 x 4 timber, Gorilla glue and lots of screws. The hood will be completely open with alloy strips running accross to attach lighting. It will open like a Piano lid Hinged into the wall using heavy duty hinges.


Lighting - 2 x 150W 20K Metal Halides inside 2 x Lumenarc Diamond reflectors(44cm x 24.5cm x 17cm), Powered by 2 x Nelson 150w MH electronic Ballasts.
2 x 54w Arcadia T5 Actinic tubes attached to two 1200mm Juwel reflectors, Ice-Cap lamp-holders running into 1 x electronic Ballast. 1 x Blue LED moon-light with 28day lunar moon cycle function


Plumbing - 1 x Eheim 1262 return pump running into a 1" SCWD, splitting into two 1" PVC pipes then into two 1" pipes splitting again into four 3/4" Loc-Line flare nozzles. Pondmaster 11392 pump to run chiller and UV sterilizer. 2" overflow bulkhead with Strainer.


Sump - 600mm x 600mm x 600mm


RO Tank - 400mm x 600mm x 300mm powered by a pondmaster 11388(located through-wall outside of house)


Additional Plumbing - Tunze stream 6065


Protein Skimmer - Reef Octopus NW200


Controllers - Custom Auto top-off courtesy of "smash", Weipro Temp controller running 2 x 500W heaters


Chiller - Resun CL-650(located through-wall outside of house)


UV Sterilizer - Pondmaster 11W

what did you mount the t5 endcaps on looks like an acrylic bar or something?
 
Looks good, i like the rock on the base n side. Still waiting to do that to mine, been a year now, LOL

The endcaps are mounted on 15mm aluminum L shape extrusion. And held in place by solid brass nuts n bolts.
