Do not place SH with anemones. That is an accident waiting to happen. Clownfish are typically not a suitable fish to be with SH. They will outcompete them for food.

Side subject. With as many BTAs as you have, have they every spawned?
check post #435. It's only 2 pages back. BTAs do not "spawn" per se - rather they clone themselves. Check the FAQ on the anemone & clownfish forum.

mobert - as always a pleasure reading the thread/watching the vid.

Update:
My Magnifica is no more. RIP Feb 2010 after in my tank for 19 months. :(
Its demise could be from several or all of the following reasons:
1) New batch of frozen food fed. No problem with any other inhabitants though.
2) I added a Haddoni that was inflating and deflating that died in the tank
3) I did not clean the overflows because I added baby Percs and didn't want them sucked in, thereby making the suction stronger in one spot, causing a Bubbletip Anemone to be sucked in and chopped up in the tank.

I have re-arranged the rock work and put a RBTA on the left side for the two clowns. Something very interesting happened. The two clowns no long felt they had to or wanted to defend their anemone. They peacefully let baby clowns and their other siblings stay in the RBTA. The female sometimes sleeps on the right side. Sometimes there are 5 clowns peacefully hanging out in the one anemone on the left now.

I took a bunch of pictures to document possible color changes going from a Magnifica to BTA's. I do believe they are taking on some of the muddy colors of their siblings rather than the vibrant yellow and black coloring.

Tank is looking great, I will post new pictures and videos soon. I have a new HD camera.

Thanks Phil for helping out with questions.
I just want to add that I have had several anemone spawning events over the years. The tank gets completely whited out. My skimmer clears it out pretty quickly though.

Anemones are very hard to count but I see maybe 14 of them at the moment.

Thanks folks for the interest and the kind words. I really appreciate the comments but please direct general reefkeeping questions or questions about other tanks in the appropriate forum as I can only say what works or doesn't work for me and I would like to stay on topic here.

mobert, I love the clowns. I've been following the thread for a great deal now.

Question, do you breed for yourself or have you ever breeded for someone else ? (not knowing if the underroot of the question is against TOS here)

Thanks Variansyn,
I only sell to local fish stores or I give away to the local high school or to my sister. You pretty much have to breed clowns yourself if you want to raise a clutch up together in one tank as most people do not know a local breeder. (I was very lucky to get mine from Fingerwrinkles). Baby clowns probably do not ship well. I probably do need to read the TOS though :fun5:

great update. can't wait for the pix. very interesting about the group behavior.

where are the babies from? in the tank?

what is the new camera?

Hi Carl,
The babies are from the mated pair of Percs that lived in the Magnifica. I added enough so my Perc count is probably 27 again. :)

I got a Canon VIXIA HF S100 Pretty nice camera. I think I got a good shot of Mandarin fishes doing their mating dance.

Here is a picture of the breeding pair of clowns a week after their magnifica died. They now share their anemone and are no longer possessive of their space. Also, it seems that it is possible to add baby clowns into the mix. It was a little rough for them at first but all is well now.

OT:
I have a cute video of my pair doing their dance:

i love your tank and will be trying to copy it a bit when i redo my tank soon. i have about 15 RBTA's that i can put in my tank.

i see that you have SPS corals in the tank too. i will too. any tips to have them coexist peacefully?

i will have them on different ends of the tank. from some of your writing it seems like they will only go up in their travels so isolating with the rockwork is the way to keep them separate.

the mating Mandarins are soo cool!

can you give a little synopsis of your feeding regime and methods?

Carl
