I've been planning to do very similar setup with my 220, and ran into this thread on accident. I've got a local guy that breeds false percs and was going to go for about 20.

Had a couple questions...Should I add anems and fish about the same time or what. Also. What do I do about power heads...I've heard some people cover them, and some people don't recommend them at all. And I figured since this is the only tank I've ever seen like what I was going for I would ask you your opinion...

you have the most amazing tank ever...I love SPS systems...and I've done that, but I kinda like this idea better....thanx in advance

I would add the anemones first. Let them get established. I've had no problems with the Tunze Streams. Probably because the anemones are well established and not moving around much. I like powerheads because of the low energy use versus a closed loop pump, but they are not as clean looking. Will your ocellaris be big enough to handle the current in a 220? Click on the red house for my tank set up information. I would start off with more than 20. You can always sell them to the store if it gets crowded.

Update: the Gold BTA when into the rocks. I hope it comes back out...:(

it will pop back out...just hope it's where you want it too.

Hadn't put alot of thought into flow yet. I've never had clowns so young before, and that had not crossed my mind. As of now there isn't much flow. Mag 9.5 return. And a nano tunze, and weakest Koralina. I'll go check out your little red house before I ask any more questions. Thanx for the responce

Justin

when I get my clowns they won't be babies anymore...but should have grown up together and be getting along or not by the time I get them...is flow an issue at that point (prolly depends how big they are i guess)

vsuboy---thanks for the comment. It encourages me to post more pictures. :) :) :)

You were right Justin! It popped back out at the very top. Good thing it's not mixed reef on that side. I'll have to watch him. If ever a BTA looks like a potential floater it is this one. It was placed in the bottom left side next to the nepthea and is now at the top right.

Thanks for the comments folks!

The mag looks great. :) No change at all from the original pictures. It closes up a little at night like a big fat ball and never deflates. I think this is good....yes? I'm feeding just plankton sized foods, ie cyclop-eeze, frozen brine and golden pearls. It has moved over about an inch from where it was placed.

The Gold BTA has been MIA for awhile now. :(

Oh, btw, Happy birthday to the clowns. They turned three Aug.29th.:celeb2: :celeb1:

I enjoy staring at pics of your tank. I can only imagine what it looks like in person.

The tips of the green Anemones are so bright. Do they look like that in person? I have never seen such a bright green on an Anemone.

Do you plan on adding any more BTA color morphs to your tank?

I would recomend larger food for the mag. Mine seem to do the best with fresh raw shrimp and scallop. A healthy mag can easilly do a whole cocktail shrimp. As long as they are getting something, lack of feeding doesn't seem to kill them, but they will thrive and grow with more food in my experience.

Can I get some pics of the Mag? Very nice tank. [/B]

Thanks speeddemonslr! Here's another pic just taken today:

Flighty, thanks for the input. In the picture above, I just gave the mag a few slivers of fresh salmon. I have to pick up some shrimp and scallop from the grocery store. Are those the two main foods you feed? How often? I would like this mag to grow a bit but I am afraid of feeding bad silverside.

Thanks Chihuahua6! The tips are really that bright. I still have not seen the Gold BTA since shortly after introduction so I dunno. Here's another picture taken with a flash:

it is sure eye candy tank.

thanks NVTE. I appreciate the the comment.

I worry about food issues to, so I only feed them things that I would eat. It ends up being less expensive anyway since the seafood guy sometimes gives me the little tough side muscle off of the scallops for free. Make sure you are getting the "no water added " ones. I don't know if the chemical they use on the water added ones is harmful to anemones, but I don't want to find out.

I do inverts instead of fish just because of my magnifica's behaviour so far. They seem to capture and eat my shrimp and never touch the fish unless they have scale problems. I don't have any reason other than that to think that one food would be better than another.

The color is great on that guy BTW. If you want the tentacles to be longer, up the flow a bunch. I bet the clowns will start breeding like clockwork soon with this house.

Gawd, Il ove this thread...beautiful tank...keep the updates coming...it's totally inspiring...I'd love to one day have a tank like this...just nems and clowns...

Your tank is amazing. I bought my first BTA about a month ago and its doing awesome. I've never seen so many clowns and bta's in a tank. Looks great

I just read the whole thread and now am wondering if I'm feeding the nem wrong. I feed silversides but you were speaking to flighty about not feeding silversides. Sorry about interupting the thread with this question just kinda new to nems and wondering why.
