270 Gallon SPS tank for JBNY

The tank is doing great. I have had no problems with the tank at all. I did put in a water sensor that is hooked into everything. It is located on the back of the sump stand in the fish room. The way I made the setup if anything leaks (with the exception of the frag tank) the water will be channeled to the front of the equipment stands, so the sensor is in that area. If water is detected it shuts off the main pump and trips an alarm and sends a txt message to my phone.

But so far everything has been great, all the frags are growing. I forget how long it takes to grow things from frags, but it's moving along. The only losses I've had are 1 or 2 frags that I bleached when first putting them into the tank, and two gobies jumped from the tank.

some updated pics.

looking good Joe!...I'm thinking about going back to a DSB.

Thanks Mike, I'm pretty happy with the DSB again, the only problem I've had is about 7 months ago I started getting algae growing on the sand, it has died out a lot (I thought it was just a phase) but still I never ad that before. It wasn't all over the tank just in certain areas, weird.

Good stuff Joe. It looks like you have a couple places for some new corals :p How many of your pieces are pieces from your old tank?

Hey Mark, Unfortunately I only was able to get a few, maybe 2 or 3 pieces from my old tank. The tank will be pretty packed when it finally grows in with the pieces I have right now. But always looking for more.

Nice lookin good, so do you add any kind of supplements to your tank or just rely on good water changes, your tank really looks like its coming along great job

I was dosing a small amount of vodka (6.4ml) a day for about 14 months. I stoped this weekend, just to see if I notice any changes to the tank (better or worse) without dosing. Besides that I dose 3 drops of lugals a week, 25ml of Seachem strontium weekly, 80ml of Salifert Amino Acids weekly, and 100ml of Special Blend weekly, use a calcium reactor and a Kalk reactor for calcium. Then I do a 10% water change once a week.

Growth has been slow, but the frags are getting bigger so it is starting to pick up. Colors have been very good.

LOL! all the frags were donated by friends, so I got some nice corals from people. I actually have only one or two green corals, all the other acros are blue, purple, pink and yellow. My dad even commented that this tank has a lot of blue corals.

You have a very fine appreciate for the aesthetics. I love everything about your stand, the tank, the clean setup, and even the nice furniture and decorations around it.

Looking forward to seeing it when it fills out.

Beautiful pieces. Looks like you are shooting under quite a bit of blue light. What bulbs are you using?

Looks pretty white to me. I would guess no more than 15k (total)...

Everything looks great Joe! Knowing your last tank, this one's going to turn out even more amazing.

Thanks guys!
