Wow Joe,
Your brave to have wrasses, anthias & firefish with an open top. I can't even count how many of the above fish I lost from sporadic jumping. Worst was a 3.5" Holanthias borbonius dried up on the floor.

Thanks Mark. I am keeping the tank around 80-81 right now, probably raise it to 82 for the summer.
The borbonius has been a great fish, he took about 4-5 days to stop hiding and another 2-3 days after that to start eating, but now he is a very aggressive eater. He is out in the middle of the tank all the time, doesn't bother anyone. Really a great fish. I have had him about 4 months.
Work has kept me busy, also been working on a few projects.
I am running 250-Watt Acquaconnect 14K MH with Giesemann POWERCHROME Actinic Plus T5's.

Thanks, I tried to get a few different angles, I think they came out pretty cool too.
I have only opened the top about a month ago. But even before I had a semi open top and no one jumped. With the old tank I had wrasses and anthias and firefish too. I never had anyone jump unless they were being harassed by another fish. So I have tried to put in fish that are not aggressive to one another, so far things have been good, but you are right, you never know.

Hey Eric! So far the tank has been running flawlessly. I have had no problems with the anything really. The automation I put in has been working without a hitch too.
I had a lot of issues with getting healthy fish in the beginning. But everything has settled in and all the fish are now doing great.
My updated fish list is now.
(2) Clown fish false percula (Amphiprion ocellaris)
(1) Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosus)
(1) Regal tang (Paracanthurus hepatus)
(2) Tuka Anthias (Pseudanthias tuka)
(5) Yellow Coris Wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus)
(4) Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)
(1) One spot foxface (Siganus unimaculatus)
(1) Vrolik's Wrasse (Halichoeres vrolikii)
(1) Japanese Anthias Holanthias borbonius
(3) Flame Angels Centropyge loricula
All the corals in the tank are all from frags, so you'll notice that I have nothing but a bunch of sticks in there right now. :lol: But I have had tremendous luck with SPS. I have had no deaths other than about three frags that I killed by bleaching them with too much light when I first got them. But really the tank has been exceptional with regard to keeping coral alive.

only two frags are from my old tank, the rest are from fellow reefers.

Joe, your fish room looks great. And I see you have the same tendancy that I have to only use one leg whenever possible. 
What is the gizmo in the second picture where the water dumps into the sump? It's at an angle. It looks like some type of drain baffle system, with various probes inside perhaps?

I think JB said that was air valves and standpipes, the air valve tubing being directed back to the water in case they backflow with water he doesnt get a leak.

Thanks, I like the open top too. Took me a while to decide to go that route. But now that I have, I like it a lot. I was able to pick up the borbonius for a pretty good price locally, luckily he worked out.

:lol: yeah if I don't need an extra leg what's the point. I have the rest of the stand drilled into the wall studs. I did the same thing with my last tank.
The gizmo is exactly as JagerEinheit wrote.
here is pic of one before it was installed without the top with the airline tubing going back to the tank. It's done a great job at keeping the water from crashing into the tank from the floor above. I still get bubbles but not as many as my last tank and the water is not a violent when it hits the refugium from above.
yup it's a 6ft Spectra, As Mark stated there are a few of them around now.
The fixture is really a beauty, I take some detailed pictures and post them so you can get a good look at it.

This one is with the frag MH on, and you can see the sink I put in.
Here is the other side of the room, with some racks to put stuff on as well as the brute rubbermaid container to hold top-off water.
I also put in an exhaust fan last month. Wow, what a difference that made! I have it set up to go on at 78F and off at 76F. It is just a 110CFM bathroom exhaust fan, but it pulls the temperature down, when the chiller is running, 7-8 degrees in 45 minutes.
