The short version is the tank is doing good.
But reef gods have been testing me this summer. So far everything is holding on tight, but I had two big system failures that if I were not home would have wiped out the tank.
The first one being the day before I leave for a week on vacation. I am in the living room watching TV and hear a sucking noise, I look at the tank and notice a lot of bubbles in the display. I think that's strange, maybe my skimmer filled up and is dumping bubbles into the sump. So I go downstairs to investigate, as I walk up to the fish room I notice that the carpet, outside the door to the fish room, is soaking wet. Now, the floor in my fish room is vinyl and the base molding is vinyl that is siliconed to the floor so the only place for water to go is to the front of the room, were the door is, about 15 feet from the sump. So I think oh no, that can not be good.
Run into the room and find that water is pouring out of my refugium on to the floor. I try to not panic and trace the problem before I cut the power to the main pump. A few weeks ago I threw a purigen sock into the overflow of the refugium and it had got itself stuck in the intake and blocked the drain. I lost about 20 gallons of water onto the floor.
Thanks god I was home, as well as I was planning on doing a water change later that day so I had 40 gallons of made up salt water. 2 hours later I had the mess cleaned up and new water in the tank. But that would have been a disaster if it happened a day later.
Then last Friday, I just got home again from being away for a week. I had been home maybe 5 hours, when a bad storm rolled through the area and the area took a lighting strike. My aquacontroller3 and two of my controllers got fried. The MH and VHO stayed on, but all the other things with the exception of the main pump were off. Good thing I was home to manually fix everything or else the tank would have either bleached itself from 24/7 lights of fried from the chiller never turning on.
The one good thing is the coloration of my acros is awesome!
I have family in this weekend but I will try and post some pictures as soon as I have some time.
