270 Gallon SPS tank for JBNY

I agree with you Joe, the Gobiodon atrangulatus (Green Gobie) that I'm presently keeping have caused only a little damage. I did have little nips on my A. nana colony and you could tell they where actually eating on the coral. I just watched both very closely and the nana healed without any long term problems. That has been the only time I've seen any damage, about 6 months ago. This is in my old tank which is a 65g and I have two of them - they are great to watch and I'm willing to put up with a little nip in order to keep them. If you are a person that will not tolerate any fish nipping on the coral then it might be wise to select a different fish, otherwise they are great.

Nice to know. How many you plan on adding? Do they hang out together or usually do their own thing? With this good info I'll have to try one for now and see what happens.

hi joe awesome job with the upgrade. can you post some updated pics of the fish room and explain any changes good or bad that you mad with the fish room to accomidate the new tank?

Beautiful tank, aquascaping, tank furniture, room, and style! I also am into contemporary furniture, and love your set-up! Great job! Can't wait to see the progress:rollface:

Hey Joe, been following the thread from the beginning. Absolutely beautiful work. Hope to see it live one day. Will keep watching the progress. Mike

Love the tank so far. I'm sure it's going to be even better than your previous tank!!!

question: I can't remember what you stated earlier in this thread. how deep is your sandbed and what maintenance do you plan with it (i.e. stirring, changing portions out, etc?) if any at all? In addition, what inverts do you plan to keep it clean?

Thanks!
Phu

Quick question for you Joe...

Why did you choose to show the surface of the water in your design? I rarely see this and was wondering.

Amazing job btw. I hope to build something very similar in the near future.

Happy New Year everybody!!

Sorry for no update in while. I made the mistake of starting the Master Bathroom renovation, right after finishing the canopy for my tank. I guess I am just a glutton for punishment. :)

So absolutely nothing has been done with the tank, in the last two months. I've got a few corals in the tank that were given to me about 8 weeks ago, they are all doing fine. I've put some fish in the tank, but have been having a real hard time keeping certain fish. I lost a whole school (13) of splitfin anthias, (they just disappeared one day never to be seen again). I also lost a school of banggai cardinals (10 as well). I've got a bunch of other fish in the tank and they are all doing well though, so I am unsure what is the cause of my fish woes. :(

The tank is having some hair algae issues in a few places on the rocks, but other than that it is doing good.

Really the bathroom renovation consumed all available free time since early November, sorry I haven't posted much.

Then lets see pictures of the bathroom :)

Right. As long as this thread has a pulse, we're happy. ;)

Hey Joe,
Man, what a nice set up! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this entire thread. The experience shines through with all the unforgotten details. I don think you missed a thing. I just subscribed to this one & look forward to the future progress of this reef. Nice Job!
