3 tank,2600 gal. system room build

talking with the engineer he is going to have his hands full on floor support with what he wants now.
16000 to 17000 pounds on a 13'x14' floor, thats two Hummers or like 8 vehicles at 2000 lbs each parked on that floor.
dean have you seen my personnel message

will do, but for the engineers protection I am trying to setup him with dean for a onsite visit instead of talking on the phone with discriptions

jnarowe- i appreicate your imput, you and others have been so much help.

I hope I have...so many things to consider, and I feel weird giving advice to a guy who has kept aquariums much longer than me, but different perspectives can be useful. When reef keepers visit me for the first time, they try to pretend like they aren't freaked out. I try to walk them through the most important design elements, my triumphs and failures, but it can be over-whelming.

I know you will take your time. :) BTW, I am in talks with the Seattle Aquarium regarding my livestock. They have a South Pacific exhibit.

15HP!?!?! What's the flow rate on that?

Honestly, it sounds like a bit overkill for a return pump only. Aside from the fact that it will likely spin your electric meter like a top, if each tank is ~720g, you could turn each one with a 1-1.5HP pump and save loads on power consumption.

I know what you mean barky about the engineer. Im glad you found one for him to talk to. Hey dean if you get that pump the electric company will love you even more. LOL

this is a pump from great lakes aquarium, your right it is to big for me but i can dream.

Would be nice to have a tank that warranted that kinda pump.

You really don't need all that much flow through your sump. If you are flowing more than 1.25x the amount your skimmer or other filters can handle, then your flowing too much.

did mock up of L shape tank and liked it but no room for large reef tank. back to 2 tanks 130x40x36high internal overflow on 1 end with 4- 2'' holes drilled. should i have more holes for future flow or can internal flow be done with thunze?
