3 tank,2600 gal. system room build

for flow in reef tank, how about 3 closed loop with om 4way on each with dart barricuda for each 3 closed loop?

was talking to a builder today about this he mentioned that 2x10 construction 16" on center can carry 50lbs per sqft on surface.
now dean dbled up the 2x10 with 3/4 inch plywood so do we estimate 100lbs a sqft plus because of plywood in between, what we didn't know was the load factor with the I beams. I did figure with the 2 tanks the load factor would be 210lbs per sqft. waiting on the engineer still for answers.
was talked that maybe we could take these questions to a home center to see if they could answer my question, always tomorrow

i would make sure the structural engineer does the load calculations.

steel I beams and a foundation wall on the 4th side.

that's old-school dude. Too many holes in the tank, too much risk IMO.

50 lbs or 500 lbs? 50/sq ft. doesn't seem right to me at all.

my system is about 200 pounds per sq ft.

it's too late for me to get rid of the OM four ways now. they go thru the bottom of the tank.

Paul over at OM said he has not seen them leak even after a long time.

what i am worried about right now is what is growing in the pipes that i can never get to to clean. how will it be after a few years.

things to do differently the next time.

what is the new school way to do it?

50lbs per sqft.
he has a total of 182 sqft in a 13x14 room, if the builder ment 500lbs per sqft we would never have to worry about weight on a floor.
500x182 is 91000lbs. that floor would hold

Yeah, you need good valves EVERYWHERE if you do a closed loop. NEw school way? Wave boxes, powerheads, etc. A lot of people are building tanks with no penetrations now.

last year when I built my tank I went with the the OM 4 way as I did not like the my old tank with pumps and power heads and wiring hanging all over,
I like the clean look as my tank is viewable from 3 sides. you can build the closed loop system with a OM without the penetrations

I have delt with Paul and use a few ocean motions and in two of my tanks you cant even tell that there is even a closed loop in the tank cuz I got them hid so well
