3 tank,2600 gal. system room build

sumps and equpiment will be on porch, seperate room from house and at same level. rk2 skimmer will have its own pump. thinking of going with horse truogh for sumps. will check heigth of sump and bottom of tank to see if there is enough clearance to slope drain from tank and clear trough.

overflow combs can be installed post-manufacture, but you would want the tank built for them:

If you are ordering from GC. I had an issue where he would not do external overflows, something about strength. I figured my first reef I would take it slow.

If you go with troughs for sumps I am sure you will plan room in case of a power outage for extra volume.

J - With all the room for your overflows it turned out it was useful for other things. I think I remember you mentioning a few.

Well if your planning on going with the overflow on one end I would recamend 2 - 1.5"returns and 2 - 2" Drains. I have some pics for you to look at I will post them on here later this evening.

One thing I didnt realize that if you went with 40" wide tanks it puts things into a whole new ball game due to the extra width.
Adding the 10+ and the 4+ may not seem like a lot

The special needs are as follows: 6” tempered braces, tempered bottom, and end panel opposite the overflow end will need 1.5” thick end (this is achieve by laminating 3 â€"œ ½” starphire panels together).

You know one thing I was thinking if you can get them to make the tank minus the overflow. Than add 1 yourself. Just not sure if they will router opening for the water to overflow. maybe drill a hole or something. Not sure on how to do it.

The euro bracing is something to consider on your lights. Might not be an issue for you but it might for some people.

From what I understand from my conversations with them that they only drill the glass and thats about it. From my experience working with glass that it was easier to notch something then to drill holes.

If you use the removable overflow combs all the way across, they can build it with the flow part 2" short of the top rim. Then you can epoxy on the combs. Saves them labor and you get a badass system.

new panel with alot of afci combination breakers. most of house outlets are cfi now. this doesent look reef related but i think it is very important to get electrical in first.

was playing with some numbers and 2 tanks 130x40x36high-13411.3lbs water, 1400 lbs for each tank glass. and 400lbs for 2 metal stands. 16611.3lbs total. are there any structural eng. out there in reef central?
