300 Gallon Miracles Aquarium

WHAT a DAY!

WHAT a DAY!

What a day! I tell you, what can go wrong WILL with me!

So after turning off my Calcium Reactor for 1 week so I can adjust the levels better I decided to turn it back on this morning.
After 30 minutes or so I happened to look at the water level on the sump.

It was LOW! Like 10 gallons low! I knew something was wrong but what? Again I looked around and saw this.

1" of water under the sump and under the pumps! My pond liner that I put behind and under the stand held it all in. The best $145 ever spent!!!

But where is the water coming from??

Found it. The plastic PVC fitting split into two, after two weeks of being fine. NICE!

Nice work on the electronics end of things! Very clean and professional.
Glad to see that the pond liner did it's job...we say it all the time - how essential it is to put fault tolerance into every design. Of course, even with all that we still have to be vigilant. Catching problems early is a benefit of closely monitoring your systems.

As far as the necrosis with your coral - was it RTN or STN? What all have you tested for? Any other corals showing stress? Possibility of predators?

Is feels a lot like fall in Canada this week, so now my brand new Socket Expansion module for my Apex to control my 900 watt heater failed!
NO HEAT in the tank, down to 75 all day. I'm not impressed! :furious:
If I wiggled or tapped on the module it would work for a second. This was brand new, never tested. Lucky me I had a brand new spare unit to swap out with the other NEW ONE!!! Not funny!

Thank you, it's because of the internet and this forum that I got into the aquarium hobby. Without the help and support I am sure I would have never attempted it. So I am giving back my experience to others.

New Mission!

New Mission!

I'm on a new mission now!
I think that my Lysmata wurdemanni (peppermint shrimp) are eating my soft tissues corals, so I need to catch them and get them out of my tank. Any ideas on the best way to do that? Any one?

Maik1

I dont think they eat them. Have fun on your mission. They are pretty easy to catch, just throw in a piece of raw shrimp at night.

How fast do corals grow?
