Well you run that risk with all large angels. The point being you reduce the risk greatly if you can get them while they're babies and feel them well so they don't learn any bad habits.
BTW, your current large one will eat your SPS as well as other corals if that carpet anemone wasn't in your tank. It just has its plate full right now with his preferred tasty meal!

Worth a try. A pair of gold nuggets would look awesome in your tank especially with the green, red and blue carpets. Don't know if it can coexist with other clown species though.

I pick up a red carpet today so far the emperor have no interest on it.
Also I am hoping that the true Red Sea regal angel start to eat.
So all my reefing Christmas wish will be complete

Finally red carpet looks great without a drop of medication specially after moving the emperor on the cube tank…but now my scribble likes to nip at the carpet too, he is also teaching the moorish idol to nip at it too. now i have to move the scribble in the cube too until i figure out what to do with them. i spend so much time and money collecting this angels so i will NOT let it go again since i already let go my of maze face blue line a month ago.
Maybe i should just do what everyone are doing filled the tank with zoanthids, Acans, chalice, tangs and wrasses then sells those corals since they grow like weeds, easier to keep and less frustration…

you always loss money on fish, no matter where you get it from since almost half will die during qt process unless you get yellow tangs and other indestructible fish even aaron will tell you that. corals specially zoanthids makes so much money and less risk.

I had a blue tang and a regal angel eat hundreds of dollars worth of zoas and I had a Lamarck angel which is supposed to be reef safe and was no bigger then a quarter start nipping on acans within 30 seconds of introducing it into my tank.
You never know but when you confine fish to a small space that are known to snack on corals and inverts as part of their diets, I wouldn't be surprised when they actually do. It's their nature. And even a 435 compared to a coral reef is small. So do you think you will feel better when the angels aren't nipping at expensive nems and acro colonies and instead are nipping at Rastas and BBEB colonies and Aussie acans you are paying >$10 pp? I don't think you will
IMO, if you want cool coral/nem tank then have a reef tank with only reef safe fish. You want angels, butterflies, idols etc then set up a FOWLR
I think there isn't anything more beautiful then looking at a group of yellow tangs swimming together and grazing. I love seeing that in HI and Dave's tank! Nothing wrong with common and indestructible fish

Don't get me wrong I love cheap, colorful and common fish. Moorish idols are very cheap, regal angel are fairy common ( except the one from Sudan), Aussie harlequin tusk, emperor angel and flagfins are my favorite fish. I like yellow tang too but its not my favorite so I can't have all yellow tangs in my tank since I limit myself to 15 fish including 6 clownfish and school of yellow tang take a lot of 9 remaining spot.

I guess what I am trying to say Lawrence is when you have resources, and you do, you can diversify the hobby to make it work for you at it optimum. You have an incredible 435 and you love sps, nems and other colorful corals. You also have an awesome cube and you love angels, idols, well fish in general. Am I right? So, to optimize your hobby let one tank be for your coral addiction and have fish in it that will coexist in a limited space to not harm the corals, nems etc. You also have a fish addiction for coral and nem eaters so house them in an environment that will benefit them and not hurt what else you like. I don't have your lifestyle although I would like to I get 24" for a tank. My wife doesn't want one in the bedroom and my house is not the size nor layout to afford me room with our furniture to have anything more then that. I just have to make it work with my circumstances and still feed my addiction yet still be a beneficial reef environment for all inhabitants. Although you can do it in your home on a larger scale.
