470 Gallon Mixed Reef - nuxx Reef

Little Tomini Tang seems a lot happier in QT now. Maybe it was just skittish.

I went ahead and ordered the Avast Marine Auto Top Off and their diaphragm pump. Dan was super helpful over at Avast.

Also just placed an order for the 4 remaining magnets to mount my 4 WP40s on the back wall.

I lobe the wp series of power heads. I got to order 2 more for my tank...debating on 3 for a total of 4

Was going to not use two of my WP40s and just have a WP60 at each end and then have a WP40 a few feet in on the back wall pointing towards the center but ended up decided to use all my 4 WP40s and 2 WP60s.

Will have a WP40 and WP60 on each far end pointing down the length of the tank. Then use the additional WP40s about 3 feet in on the back wall pointing to the front panel and to the center.

Hopefully with that setup and 2 returns I won't have much dead space.

Really love the WP25s in the sump. Dead silent and making some good turbulence.

Just installed all my powerheads.

Have a WP60 and WP40 on each end pointing down the tank. Then a 1/4 down the tank I have a WP40 on each side point toward the center front panel.

Flow seems pretty good and the Seaflor Special Grade sand hasn't moved :)

Just added one Kessil A360W-E to see how I liked the fixture.

I have to say I'm pretty blown away with it.

Going to get two more for the time being and then add the final two in a few months.

I think 3 will cover the tank, but there will be shadowing. My 90 degree gooseneck adapter hasn't made it here yet, so I'll probably raise the light up a few inches as well.

5 will definitely do the trick :)

Have my programs / profiles loaded in the Apex for the lights, but need a stereo cable extension for the Kessil Apex cable, about 6 feet too short...

BTW: The left and right of the tank have some old Marineland LEDs over them. The A360W-E is at about 80% intensity as well.

Not yet, will probably order them next week. Take about two days to get here.

Gooseneck 90 Degree adapters take a bit longer >:0

Should be able to get more spread as I raise the lights up. Right now it's only 5" off of the water. Want to do about 10".

BTW: This is pretty funny, shot from the IP Camera into the tank. The section nearest to the camera is being lit by Marineland LEDs, but looks like it's dark compared to the middle with the Kessil.

Just ordered the other two Kessils this morning.

At 10" above the water using the Gooseneck and 90 Degree Adapter, I'm actually really surprised by how much one A360W-E covers.

I think 3 will actually fill the entire tank. I had thought I needed 5... I might put the left and right a bit more in towards the center, since I'm not too concerned with having a ton of light at the far edges of the tank.

I'll post a pic/video when the two additional Kessils are installed.

Now have 3 Kessil A360W-E fixtures on the tank now.

Provides really good light, just a bit dim on the far top corners of the tank.

4 Would be the sweet spot I believe. Can live with this until more coral goes in.

BTW: Only the middle fixture is on the Apex. Waiting on my two stereo connection cables to show up...

Video of the Kessils.

Most the noise is from a QT tank I have setup nearby with noisy HOB Skimmer and Filter.

LOL Scott, yeah my wife was a bit upset about the size...

Started with a 55, then wanted larger and bought a 135.

The 135 seemed too small and I bought a 240. The 240 tank build dragged on for 9 months... when it was ready to start filling I was over it.

Then waited a year and bought this.

Now she seems to think it's a good size :)
