5.56 225 Peninsula reboot

Starts with a J ends with an EBO

The purpose was to kill the evil Dino's and it did a great job of that with my strain. And when they came back, just flipped it back on and they were gone within a week. I think it would be fine for that sort of spot treatment but I left it running for 6 months.

That particular model was reccomended to me by a very well known reefer as having been used effectively by another very well known reefer for dino murdering. The latter well known reefer being famous and the former being infamous.

See I knew there were lots of creative ways of using a UV. Thanks for sharing!

Never heard of carbon having any affect on algae. I can not think of how it could.

"UV does a good job off making the water clear also it kill algae spore so prevent algae out break. As far as parasite u need a lot of UV light to be successful. "

Answering the first part for carbon.

I know about UV and it’s uses. You stated “that’s what carbon and tangs are for” reguarding algae.

As far a UV light; one would need the proper size unit but exposure time is very important.

About the carbon having effect on algae; maybe is Carbon Dossing what is referred to?

No I didn't. I took his 2 part answer : 1. UV clears water, and 2. It kills algae and answered it with my 1 sentence.

That's what carbon (1. Clears water) and Tangs (2. Kills algae) are for.

With Dino's, some strains are extremely sensitive to UV, that unit was only 36 watts and I was running 700+ GPH through it and it made short work of my strain of Dino's.

Mario, I ended up getting 4 of the galaxy selectawattage ballests. (3 for the Giesemann and a spare) they do true HQI and 400W so I have found a good home for all my magnetic ballests, including the ones you gave me. Thank you again for all your generosity.

And If I'm fealing rich, I can put 400W lamps in there :D. But for the time being they take up a LOT less space and save a little bit of electricity and still seem to run radiums at full power.

I'm glad they are still usable rather than the landfill.
I had a pair of 250/400 Lumatek but re-homed them long ago.
Somewhere I read new federal regulations that affected magnetic ballasts and halide bulbs pruduction to phase them out; similar to the incandescent bulbs. This was years ago, before the mass market LED took over.
One of those Energy Star compliance things.

I remember reading this too, but it must have been hot air from the LED industry because, we still have M80 ballasts being produced by Hamilton. These are new units!

Thanks for the ballast now I have enough ballast for 10 years lol

LOL, hopefully I have enough MH to last me 3-4 years, I suspect that within 5 years, LED tech will be to the point that for $150/unit you will be able to buy units that far surpass current top of the line radions by then.

BTW, your tank is awe-inspiring!

I got my 21-3/4 X 28-7/8” 1/2” glass for my internal coast to coast overflow. That was a painstaking journey of about 3 weeks to find someone who wasn’t gouging me $175-$250 for it or wanting weeks to procure it. I really had no idea finding a sheet of glass could be so frustrating but finaly found outstanding service from golden glass in Fullerton. 24 hrs and it was cut and polished to perfection, even has diamond cut edges $80 out the door.

I’ll silicone the glass in tomorrow and complete the plumbing saturday and can probably start filling the tank for leak test on sunday.

Can you show pics of the finish overflow. I'm having a hard time picturing a coast to coast when the length of the glass is only 29"
