540 in wall from Sunrise FL......

needed to create an auto feeder box that would allow foods to be feed by an auto feeder and remain in the water column until they sank instead of going over the overflow....took this idea from a good friend who had something similar and decided to see if I could create something......designed it so the auto feeder would sit on top of it and then it would hang from the euro brace so that when it drops the food in the DT the food would fall into the square that extends into the water column and will hold the food on top of the water until it is saturated and sinks ........it extends about an 1.5 in below the water level, I located it next to a return flow line so that when the food sinks it gets shot out in the jet stream into the tank.....it was a success ....less than 1% went over the overflow

this was testing with flakes.....

and here is a video of it where you can see hardly any food moving even close to the overflow and sinking to the bottom....this also was the first time feeding flakes so no one even knew what they were ....seemed like the only one interested in them at the beginning was my copper band lol

where are you coming from ....I would recommend CRF (coral reef farm) for corals and All Fish Emporium for fish......you are going to be in Hollywood that's about 15 min from me your welcome to stop over and see things in person if you would like......Im off for two weeks vacation if you want to hit a few stores.....go to the FMAS forum our club forum and at the top is a stick map of all the stores in the area here is a direct link to the thread .....

wow really nice tank and fish. your vlamingii is huge and the blue tang is fat! awesome dude!

thanks for the kind words....those two are some of my oldest fish....both been with me for about 8 years both from juv stages.....stop by anytime if you would like to see them up close ....the vlamingii is pushing about 17 inches he out grew my old 300 and is almost too big for his new 540 home .... actually I have been contemplating moving him to a larger setup ....been thinking of working something out with one of the larger aquarium facilities in the area maybe if he can be relocated to the Miami Science Museum as our local club does a lot of work with them and holds a few meetings a year there......at least I would get to see him a few times a year....

Sounds great bro! i'll have to take you up on the offer, i would love to check it out. I love vlamingiis but they get huge lol. its awesome how long you have had some of your fish. the longest guy i have had with me is my red scooter blenny. I have heard of a marine club that does work with the Museum Of Science but I don't know who they are and where they meet.

We are FMAS (Florida Marine Aquarium Society) we meet the fourth Tuesday of the month at South Plantation High School 7:15pm.....I am part of the newly elected BOD....come check it out and let me know if you have any questions...we usually have a speaker and then a raffle for fish and corals last month was Martin Moe this month was the Christmas party and next month we haven't announced yet but it will be a good one as always.....http://www.fmas1955.org/wordpress/

Nice wrasses. I have a pair of the blacks in my QT. If you don't mind me asking, where did you order yours along with the blue stars?
