Well some things have changed since I've posted on the build.

First, my 65 gallon suddenly cracked on the bottom for no reason after running for three years. Ok maybe a couple so I had to convert the new QT coral tank to the new fish QT tanks so now I don't have to worry about corals jumping.

Secondly, I have changed the idea of having a 360 degree viewing tank. There was no equal space surrounding the tank especially on the 8 foot sides. So I moved the tank into its new place.

And lastly, the porch paint that I used at the slightest scuff would come up so I laid down a vinyl tarquette flooring. It said I needed a little over five boxes for the area I needed to cover. Now I see why.

Now I have to but a whole box just to lay one plank of flooring since everything else will be behind the foam skin.

Thanks Steve. I could lay a board on the tank and clean it or let the coralline algae grow. Imma let it grow.

Question for you Leroy...

Does it make sense to move the tank to one side and out from the back wall another foot or so? I ask this wondering if there would be enough room to squeeze on the side or in the back to perform any necessary maintenance. On the flip side, could you access the back of the tank from the rear window if need be?

This man knows what he is talking about! You may want to push the tank towards one side so you can get behind it from the other side. My application doesn't allow me to do that and just mounting Tunze power heads which have really strong magnets is a total drag. If you push it towards one side you can paint that side but then your tank went from 4 viewing panes to 3 and then 2! Which isn't so bad because you can always mount power heads and aquascape right up against it. Everything looks really good and great move with the flooring. You are doing a great job.

I can move it off center but that will look odd in a symmetric room wouldn't it?

Where the tank is now in like a cove of the room. That picture with the big window is the long side of the room approximately 16 feet in length. That is adjacent to the cove of the room. I will take another pic to show reference.

While the peninsula looks nice, can you get into that room without issue? It looks like the sliding patio door would be right in the same area as the tank and what looks like maybe 2 feet of space. If you bring stuff in through that door it might be very problematic, and for safety purposes (path of egress) it might not be the best thing to do, unless the other side of the door also slides open and I'm just looking at it wrong.

Considering the size of the room with the size of this tank, your original idea might be better, just push the tank more toward one wall or another so you can actually get by it or behind it.

No I think this will let you have easiest access to the tank. You can clean the back panel from both sides of the long panels.

hey Leroy, awesome build can't wait to see it complete, +1 on location now great access, nicer look think you'll like it in the long run. would hate to go through all that work to find out you have limited access. question where are you ordering your foam surround from?
