Just read through this thread, wow.

In fact...WOW! Equipment porn at it finest. Clear pix of the BubbleKing with close up shot of the Dragon pump...mmmm...nice...

Only 4 MH's over a system this size?

Anyway, should be amazing, can't wait for progress pix!

LOL, Thanks PITSTOP... I will be keeping this thread as full of pics as I can... As for the BK400, I am even going to have vids :)

Yes I will only be running 4x 250w MH's along with some T5's... I may switch out the middle two MH's with some 400w, I am going to try the 4x 250w since that is what I have and decide after I have the tank up and running for a little bit... I may also end up adding more T5's as well as I have seen some awesome setups running T5's...

hopefully you are setting the tank up on the stand about now.. and looking at all the nice glass and getting ready to post more pictures.... YEA

I wish it was sitting on the stand right now... If it's not one thing it's been another  But as soon as I get this tank on the stand I will have many more pics...

Um... silver lining? You can replace the top board of your stand. ;)

Okay, I'm sorry. I totally understand your ire, and you have every right to be furious. I can't believe they agreed to it in the first place only to back out now. What about getting a bunch of local club members to help out instead? We do that a lot in our club. Is that too risky? Remember Twize's 550g reef tank? They got it into the house with a lot of muscle.

Man O' man, so sorry to hear Shawn. That just flat out sucks. I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

VERY P***ED right now, I am shacking because I am soo P***ED... Again if they would have told be in the begging that they could not have done it, fine... But with them keep telling me this would be easy, will only take 45 min if that... Kept trying to trying to "squeeze" me in... Didn't once say anything about they might not have the right equ to move something like this...

Today I called them around 10:30am to see what was up, Paul was not in, and of course the guy I was talking to had no clue what was going on... He told me he would call me back after talking with Paul... Around 11:10am I got a call from one of the All American Moving guys saying that he was headed to the loading dock to look at the tank... I heard nothing back until I called them shortly after 3:00pm and the guy I talked to at that time said I am not sure why Paul keeps leading you on because this job is not for us as we don't have the equ... Then around 3:30pm I got a call from Paul saying the same thing about the job was too big and they would not be able to do it... They have jerked me around for like 2wks at least, if not even 3, I don't even know right now because I am so P***ED I can't think straight...

Dang, whatever happened to the 'break you back' moving styles of yesteryear? Who needs equipment when you could hire some big weight lifter looking to make a few bucks...

Sorry to hear about your delay...hopefully you'll get things worked out soon enough.

HAHA, well from what I was told, All American Moving used man power (brute strength) to do the moves, As Custom Movers has all the nice little toys to do it for them... LOL Maybe I should head do to the gym and get like 4 HUGH guys and offer them like $40.00 each to move the tank :bum:

I hope the other company won't treat you the same way. You might tell them what happened with this company, to see if they are willing to price match. Some companies do that when they know the client is really upset with a competitor. It benefits them since you'll really sing their praises loudly when they go the extra mile.

That was my first plan, but after thinking about it, it is too risky for people who don't move stuff for a living... If I had a walkout basement sure... But down the stairs (where 10 guys) can't fit... Don't see that happening.... I mean I have even planned out everything for lowering in into the basement, like building a skid like Travis built for the 280gal... Getting a SUV and/or winch and lowering it down the stairs... I think the biggest problem would be getting it to the top of the stairs and then once it reached the bottom, getting it up off the stairs / floor...

Shawn just like I did say before my tank is almost the same size as yours and I did move it with nine other guys (ten with me). It was a lot easier the I thought it would be. If I was you, I would call around and move it my self, plus I don't think you'll find anyone to move this for 450 insured. Once they find out how big and heavy this is the price is going to jump. When I called around to find out the price it was between 600 and 1000 dollars. Good luck.

Hey Shawn,
thats just terrible. Im sure you are not happy at all. I know I would not be.

P.

LOL, that is just a little understatement :p Again at this point in the project, I am getting so mad at all of the new stuff that is popping up that I am laughing because it's kinda funny... I just can not believe 1/2 of the things I have had to deal with on this project, lets just say I have learned (still leaning) alot from this project...

I have been in touch with Jeff from Custom Movers since a few wks ago... The tank right now is at Custom Movers because they have a dock that the Overnite truck could deliver the tank to as All American Moving didn't... The plan was to have it shipped to Custom, and have All American pick it up from there and get it into the basement... When talking to Jeff he will not price match as this job was way under priced to begin with, and that he would be surprised if they would be able to do it... Well he was right :( I was hoping he would be wrong, but... So Jeff has seen the tank (been looking at it for the past 2wks) and knows all about what All American has been doing... I just got off the phone with Jeff and tomorrow at 4pm he is going to come out to the house and take a look around to see what will be needed to get the tank into the basement and everything... So tomorrow once I meet with Jeff I should know more...

You didn't move it down the stairs though did you ?? The last few club meetings that we have had I talked about us moving it and some were willing, and some were not so willing LOL... I know that Serdar (phishybusiness) had a 400gal tank from Will built and he got 8-10 local club members together to move the tank into the basement via the walkout... They had some small problems but it was completed successfully, but again that was a walkout basement not down the stairs... Once Jeff comes out tomorrow he should be able to quote me a price...

Shawn no I didn't have to go down the stairs, but had to go up the stairs (about eight) and then on the stand. However I did have clearing all the way around the tank untill we got to the stand which was in wall, but even that went easy. I hope everything goes well with the move.

Have faith because everything happens for a reason! The original movers might have broke the tank moving it and that would be a lot worse than this little problem. :)

I also agree with Marc...

Um... silver lining? You can replace the top board of your stand.

I think you are thinking right, in that the tank needs to be moved by professionals and insured. I can see getting that beasy down the stairs but once the tank is at the bottom, there will only be room for a couple guys on the stairs end. They will have to lift that end of the tank with their backs bent way over until that end of the tank has made it the rest of the way down the stairs. Talk about some broken backs!

I hate to tell you but if you think have run into a lot of problems already, just wait until you are all done with this project. Nothing ever seems to go smoothly as planned when setting up a tank, at least that is how it went for me. But if you want to look at the bright side, everyone reading this thread will learn from the mistakes and have a better chance of not making them when they set up their next system.

Oh boy I feel for you! I would have lost it along time ago with these guys. Best of luck in getting the tank safely on your stand.

You may have to go down to the movers and give them a good old.....
