I think he is waiting on his DDB (deep dust bed) to form. I think it's up to about 4" now and still needs 2" more to go.

Yea, yea, very funny Chris, You have no idea how much I would like to get this tank up and running...

Wish I had found this earlier lol. I had a way you could have sealed that stand, but its obviously to late now.. But anyways, wouldnt that rhinoliner stuff for truck beds work well? Ive used it on many things and just sanded it smooth, it doesnt let anythingthing through, much less some water.

So yeah isnt that 28 day mark coming fast?

NCreefwannabe, I saw the thread where an RC member had a steal stand built and used the truck bed liner as a covering... I don't think that would have worked too well in this case since the stand was built mostly in the basement due to its weight... For my next stand it may be built from steal and if so at that time I may end up going with the truck bed liner...

Slacker

Yea, I have had to work alot and also had a family emergency that came up and took a good bit of my free time a few wks ago... I have worked on the system a few days last wk and ended up getting only a few hrs of sleep being I needed to be back in the next morning... Tomorrow morning when I get off I am going to get some more knocked out... I am hoping to have the plumbing complete for the sump / ref and return so that I can have water flowing by this wk end... Once I let it run for a few days I will start to mix the salt into the system... I also need to get started on my light rack...

Very nice looking tank... I can't wait to get mine up and running... I see it's a 96x48x30, same as mine :)

Cute Pomeranian ;)

Shawn,
Its not a race...it'll be done when its done. No rush, no worries. Its your tank, if you are doing it at the pace you can, then thats all that matters.

You can buy that stuff now from stores. Advance carries it where I live.

I didn't know that... I was under the impression that you could only get this liner applied as a specific location and that it was not avail from your local auto parts store... It's the same stuff ??

Nick, I am not worried... I mean I have wanted it done since back in Jan when I received the tank, but I am in no hurry, as I have stated throughout this thread, I am going to take as much time as I need and try to get everything as perfect as I can the first time around... I am sure I will have my fair share of "tweaks" after it's up and running but I don't know any of us who can leave well enough alone :p

Just busting your chops. Like maxxII said, it's more important to get it done right the first time.

Dude, <rub, rub> you're slower than a stroke victim!!

Never mind all that, you have to do it as you can. I am amazed at some of the reefs built by guys with very hectic lives. It just takes a little more time. Is there anyone in your area who could help you out? Must be someone who wants to learn and get their hands wet!:D

You're all slow as ****. :D

Nah, seriously, if I had a real job I wouldn't have been able to move as fast. So Jonathan has no excuse....ahem.... :D

I have to work to pay the bills and make money to supply my addiction :p

You need a sugar momma Shawn! Hard to find but once you got one, you'll never go back! :D

Thanks Dog! I was hoping no one would notice that part. :D

Hey I worked my butt off for years so it's not like I am a total slacker.

Any of you guys deal with US Plastic Corp? I have been buying from them and today I got a back-order in the mail. Inside is a 16 page brochure titled "Destined for Greatness" and on the back is a picture of the company President.

It starts out like a science essay and turns into a request for me to accept God's Gift. It even has a tear out postcard prepaid to US Plastics with which I can send them "My Prayer of Acceptance"...Holy crap Batman!

Has anyone ever gotten something like this? I have no problem with religion but to get it as part of a product shipment was a bit startling.

LOL, my next house will be build around the tank as it will be quite a bit larger then this one I am putting together now... This 600gal display is my "test" tank so that I know for sure what I want/don't want for my next larger system... Nothing better then hands on experience, and I can tell you have I learned ALOT since starting this project...

As for work, I am on odd shifts and work 12+ hrs a day and alot of time once I leave the office I have to log back in and work a few more hrs once I get home as well, along with being on call, lucky I don't get too many calls once I am home... It's good money and pretty easy, just takes up alot of my time... If I was able to work on my tank as much as I am able to surf RC from work, I would have it made :p
