Below are a few quick pics of the fishroom... I am not done, I just placed the poly tanks and BK400 in place to get a "feel" for the finished product...

Here is the sink I need to plumb...

Here is one angle of the sump, ref, frag tank, and skimmer...

Here is another angle...

After seeing everything in place I am thinking about adding another 50gal poly tank on top of the highest set 150gal (ref) for another frag tank...

for some reason I was thinking you wanted to do 2 inches, which Is why I was worried about the edges. If you are only doing 1/2" you should be ok. If you go too thin though you risk cracking with the weight, especially with the larger vats. you could do a thicker base but just use regular cement first, and then finish it with the self leveling. But if you were to build in a frame to pour the cement into, you should be able to get it fairly level just by using the top edge of your frame as a guide. I hope that makes sense.

Awesome setup by the way. It really is impressive.

I'm always impressed with all new stuff. It looks so nice and new, and ready to implement. Looking forward to seeing this thread progress.

I have been wanting to weight my BK400 for sometime now...

If I paid that much for a skimmer I think wanting to see it perform would beat out wanting to weigh it.

Hey asnatlas,

I put the same sink in my fish room. The size is great and I love that it is plastic (I've drilled it 3 times so far), but I did notice one slight problem. The bottom of the sink is flat, so the last little bit of "stuff" that needs to go down the drain just sits there.

My recommendation would be to slightly tilt the sink towards the wall, otherwise you'll be constantly wiping down the insides.

Yes, performance is top on my list... But so is setting this up right the first time... You all should see it up and running very soon...

I second that. I wound up placing a 2x4 under the front legs to angle the sink backwards, works just fine for me.

Is the weight of the BK in pounds???
You have a 60lb skimmer???
GAWD!

Ixthys and maxxII, thanks for the info about the sink... I am thinking about adding a sprayer as well...

Yes, that is 60lbs...

LOL...I need help moving my skimmer. I added a simple kitchen style sprayer but instead of having it come of the faucet I plumbed it directly to the hot water line. That gives me more pressure and I can have the sink running and use the sprayer at the same time. Works great!

Hmm, Interesting idea... I will have to think on that one...

Well there is only one issue I think you should consider and that is you really have to trust the sprayer. The way I have it is a bit risky in that if the sprayer valve was to break, leak etc. that could cause a major problem, but as you know, I like to live dangerously!

I have been wanting to weight my BK400 for sometime now...

Cup only :

BK400%20cup%20wt.JPG

Rest of the BK400 without the cup :

BK400%20body%20wt.JPG

Total BK400 :

BK400%20total%20wt.JPG

The total seems to be a little off but then again the full skimmer would not fit on the scale...

i can't read the numbers :(

LOL, yea I know, you have had more issues with water (AKA floods) in your new fish room then I have had tanks, and that is ALOT :p If I were to do as you stated I would have a shut off valve in front of the sprayer...

I think he is waiting on his DDB (deep dust bed) to form. I think it's up to about 4" now and still needs 2" more to go.

Wish I had found this earlier lol. I had a way you could have sealed that stand, but its obviously to late now.. But anyways, wouldnt that rhinoliner stuff for truck beds work well? Ive used it on many things and just sanded it smooth, it doesnt let anythingthing through, much less some water.

So yeah isnt that 28 day mark coming fast?
